Wellspring

Wellspring is a city in Ilye. It is fairly large. Located in the northern region of Ilye, it has a cooler climate, and is surrounded by gently rolling grassy hills and light forests. The river Serra passes through it.

Government

The city is presided over by the Belanger family, who head the Belanger Duchy, which the city is within.
A competent council handle the day to day running of the city and civil matters.

History

Wellspring in it's current state appeared fairly late in Ilye's history, but arose with great speed. Originally a tiny farming town on the riverbank, it was perfectly placed as a midpoint of extant trade and transport routes, and developed a strong market from this. This developed it into a popular spot for craftspeople selling wares, which quickly grew the size of the town.
The Wellspring Woodcraft guild's development continued to attract both visitors and long-term residents. Eventually, the at-the-time head of the Belanger family moved to the growing town after a fire destroyed their original family home. This created a sense of status, and with the beautiful surroundings of the town, it quickly developed a population of richer folk moving for both the trade and that sense of developing nobility.

Points of interest

The Serra Garden

A garden built on the banks of the Serra river. It's rare to see a flourishing garden of this type made of river plants, so it's a fairly popular, if somewhat muddy, spot. Overseen by the Serra Gardeners Association, a very small but dedicated group.

Wellspring Woodcraft Guild

A guild focused on the creation of artisan woodcraft, those that lead it are carpenters and woodworkers of fairly significant reknown.

Temples

There is a generic 10 Pillars church. There are major temples to Dathyei, Vralei, and Amaei.

Geography

Wellspring is surrounded by rolling grassy hills and arable land, with some small forested areas. The Serra River flows beside and slightly through it. The river flows down from Vaisi Lake in Ostary.
