2025/03/28: Searching Kierst Isle Part 4
General Summary
Knight, Buzz, Malakai, Rusti, Kal'vus
Kelsey stepped out to deal with something outside. "Oh no, the midget's back, and he's panicking." The rest of the party carried on.
The next ship is a war galleon that looks worryingly martial.
Before the next fight could start, the rescued berserker started to wake up. He wasn't able to speak Common, but he did mime asking for something to drink. He seemed disappointed by the water Rusti gave him. Even with Comprehend Languages up, his speech was practically incomprehensible. There seemed to be something extra going on with him, like a reverse Tongues effect.
Gym nut sort of build. 6'3", which makes him one of the shorter people in the party. He claims that he was taken down by one of the people in black robes, not this part of the dungeon. (Name OOC is Trafalgar?)
Army of pirate crew. Some crewmen, some trained marines with awl pikes, some trained marines with big two-handed swords. The leaders:
Swashbuckler with dual rapiers. The captain.
Swarthy gentleman with dual sabers.
Large man a little over 10' tall with brass knuckles on one hand and a short, wide blade in the other.
7' tall Norse berserker with a huge double axe.
A marine captain with a two-handed sword and an eyepatch.
A small woman with a plain brown robe floating two feet off the ground.
40 each of the three subsets of troops.
Knight went blender bulwark against the first four leaders, killing eight of the pike marines as collateral. Kal'vus went defensive, but was challenged in a moment of stilled time by Thaneus One-Eye, the marine captain. Kal'vus honorably accepted. The marine grinned, and time resumed. The ghost lady at the back completely ignored a blast of lightning from Rusti.
One of the guys disarmed Knight of his three real weapons, despite immunity to disarm. The weapons just vanished and appeared locked on the guy's belt. Kal'vus survived a round of dueling with Thaneus.
Trafalgar ran in with what looked like a completely styleless and noobish attack. The swashbuckler leader stepped back with a scoff, then got "accidentally" impaled in the throat and tackled. When the dust settled, Trafalgar was climbing to his feet and the swashbuckler was headless on the ground. No style, no finesse, but exceptionally effective flailing.
Malakai disarmed two of Knight's swords off the swashbuckler's belt. Knight, taking his lead, flicked those swords back into his hands with his remaining sword, cut the Golden Lord's Longnail off the swashbuckler's belt and onto the ground back towards Buzz, and then returned the favor by firmly disarming the saber-wielder in turn.
Kal'vus killed his duel opponent in that cinematic samurai way, where one was badly injured and the other was dead. Then he got downed by the man's tearfully vengeful followers in his weakened state. Buzz lured a group of thugs in by looking weak and scared and then detonated a phoenix blast that pureed them with slashing damage. Malakai dispatched the disarmed sword-collector. Knight wiped out the followers that were surrounding Kal'vus. Rusti got in an extended duel with the ghost mage, dodging blood nooses and holding fast against curses. In the midst of that fight, she managed to toss healing to Kal'vus, who then took advantage of Knight using up the mage's teleport contingency. He bisected the ghost in one climactic strike.
Charmed big guy and pikemen did well. They were laughing to each other as they faded, joking about how "they always wanted to beat up those guys".
Next room golden and deep blue lights from the tapestry in the fourth room. Brilliant clouds, blue and green sloop. Small and fast. As if it were made of seashells and dreams. Billowing white sails.
