2021/07/18: Rescuing Whittle Report
General Summary
Knight, Ash, Whittle, Ril
Knight was grabbed by a time anomaly and pulled into a different place. We’re trying to get Whittle to a safe area, since he was being attacked by demons. We’re bringing him to New Hallownest. The teleport got us to the general locale, so we’re making our way through unknown caverns to find the city.
We started in a cave full of glowing crystals that turned out to be unknown crystalline lifeforms. Ash was able to communicate with them on a basic level using movement, but when he tried to meditate and commune with them, he started fading away and Ril stopped him. We resolved to come back and investigate after we find the path to safety.
The secret path through the wall from that cave (which required tapping on the secret doors in certain spots) led to a watery cavern. We had to dive into a tunnel in a pond and then open a valve to empty it the pond and let a door open. Then we fought drow soul constructs and a giant rat. Whittle killed the rat (after Knight tore out most of its Con), continuing the legend of Rat-slayer! Found two nice swords and a ghostly shield that were summoning the weaponmaster constructs.
At the end of that passage was a dark steel door and, across from it, a rubble-filled passageway leading to the dome roof above New Hallownest. The entrance is about 30 degrees off true north to the northeast.
Whittle was introduced to Tikiri and given an apartment. Hornet may be out hunting the behir. Then we all headed off to look at the time mushrooms. We ran into regenerating magic missile mushrooms.
