What are it's Methods?:
Underground being a Underdog, and a Republican Movement. It uses many means to achieve the mission ranging from Special Operations, Guerrilla Operations to private Investigations or Political Action. Underground officially does very little public political action, preferring instead to ally with independent political figures and Assist them in gaining power. At times this has been illegal but the Organisation attempts to quell Illegal political influence. Underground often becomes popular due to it's Counter Terrorist actions, disarming or dismantling radical factions the official government also ignores. Winn hearts and minds is at the forefront of Underground Strategy and while this may seem Pure or even naive. This is actually a strategy of Subversion, normalizing Underground Operations, making it synonymous with Law enforcement and mainstream Political thought. Underground does what it calls "Active Measures" and they are done through these phases.Infiltration:
Underground will infiltrate Everyday life by recruiting members of everyday life, and will ally with political figures, using their money gained from other operations to fuel political movements they support. In this phase, recruiting the common man is paramount because if you go to the butcher and he talks about certain beliefs or speaks positively of a organization then those who go to that butcher have certain ideas normalized allowing open political debate. This is also the Phase where Underground puts agents in key positions incase of any armed conflict that will make it difficult for the oppositional powers to detect or eliminate Underground assets.Motivation:
Rather then demoralizing a oppositional force, Underground prefer to motivate the common man that change can happen. This comes in the form of inspiring Charity work, individual initiative, empowering small business and mending community divides. The more united the people are, the happier they are the easier it will be for Underground to Rise above the opposition. Should the Opposition attempt to motivate the people on their own, they have already been subverted by Underground.Normalization:
Once a nation is infiltrated, it's people Motivated and united. Larger political moves will be taken and campaigns will be launched. If Underground is attempting to turn a country into a Republic. They will rend small concessions from the Nation's Political system that will implement local forms of Democracy such as Mayoral votes and Representative Councils. Once the common person is opened to the idea of choosing their political leader, Underground will vet candidates and find ones that will be most appropriate. It is important that the candidate is not an official Underground member. After finding officials they want in power, they do all legal action to empower the candidates. Once enough officials have been elected in favour of Underground, the organization will begin operating more in the open. Openly eliminating threats, protecting the people and conducting community events or rallies. Underground at this point is a mainstream oppositional force to the nation and declaring military action will only further Underground's subversion of the nation.The Final Nail:
Once Normalized and mainstream, Underground will lessen the intensity of it's subversive strategy and simply allow the people to do the rest. As Republicanism becomes more and more popular, more and more concessions will be made by the opposition to prevent chaos. It is not necessary to overthrow the Opposition in order to seize control of the Nation. If the Opposition attempts to resist, then they will find less and less unity within their own side as more law and order minded people within the opposition would argue against overt or even violent action against Underground as it would lead to Disaster. It is very common for Underground to begin Bipartisan institutes in order to promote cooperation. If the Opposition is sufficiently cooperative the Subversive operations cease as the Nation will likely implement a full Republic or a constitutional monarchy. Ideally this all happens without blood, and a Coup'detat is unnecessary. Though there has been times where a Bloody coup'detat has been required such as the beginning of the 2nd Equestrian Civil War, where the Opposition took tyrannical measures to stop Underground during the Normalization phase.Ideology:
Other then promoting the Three Vigilant Crows, Underground in General follows a very Republican Ethos, espousing Harmonic Ideals. The faction has a very Humanitarian shade to them. However at the same time, the faction has a zero tolerance policy on tyrannical action. In battle Underground is ferocious, preferign to totally and utterly dismantle an enemy. Rending countless injuries and casualties in a brutal swift manner. Despite the Harmonic Ideals, they are not Pacifists in any sense of the word. Often being very militant and firm on self defense. When attacking a underground member with your fist, expect a broken arm and nose. However they are believers in the old saying of "Speak Softly, and carry a big stick." Some have argued that Underground is technically an Equalist Movement with it's Racial Egalitarianism, it's desire to help the poor, dismantle Elitist systems and it's fondness of Community and the worker. However there are key differences between Underground and say Equalis under Silverlight, formerly led by Starlight Glimmer. Underground runs a Meritocratic system in it's ranking, promoting on Merit rather than any other way. It very strongly believes in a Capitalist system, often using it as the way to conduct it's operations or help out communities. Finally, aside from Equal Treatment of any race or Gender and Sexuality. Equality is not an idea that Underground actively promotes, but rather Equity. It believes in everyone's equitable right to live their life the way they choose. To vote for who they chose and to attempt to do anything they chose. It does not believe in Equality of Outcome and does not believe in one of the core tenets of Equalism 'The needs of the many, outweigh the few." instead it believes in a "No man left behind" ideal, in which if Progress leaves behind individuals, Underground will do everything they can to catch them up.Flaws:
Despite all the good that Underground attempts to do, it can make mistakes such as electing the wrong individuals, accidently furthering crime. It can intrude on matters people did not ask them to, and it technically undermines law enforcement with its Pseudo Vigilante action. It's political action can cause Protests and riots to happen and while they attempt to mitigate the harm, harm still occurs. The way many Underground operatives carry themselves in war can also lead to many broken families as that is what High casualties on the enemy side means, broken families. It is also not very respectful of national Sovereignty if it is to take such a Interventionist approach to Politics and it's operations. On top of that, their action against the criminal underground can cause escaluation in criminal sophistication. Which then increases the sophistication of Underground and law enforcement operations which can lead to unintentional militarization of law enforcement and possible avenues of Oppression. Despite Undergrounds attempts to mitigate any harms it may cause, it still happens and lives can be broken by it. Underground is proof that no matter how well intentioned you are in your mission, one day your going to step on someone's toes. That one day it'll be you who stands on the side of the Unjust. One can only hope Underground continues the internal effort to maintain a level of purity within itself or Underground will be the very monster it sought to defeat.
