Kingdom of Lexer

Theme:

Introduction

The Former Alicornian state was seceded by the Republic of Lexer in their defeat at 30 AD after a long grueling civil war with House Verosa over the issue of democratization and equal rights. More is known about this former state then the rest of the Empire, as Lexeans took great care in preserving history and culture. Lexer at this point was a feudal state led by Hosue Fordragon, an old Alicornian house that was personally supported by Manus at the time.    In this era, Lexer wasn't a Bastion of Liberty, Anti Slavery and the pursuit of equal rights. In this era, Lexer was a loyal subject of the Alicornian empire and followed in suit with it. Lexer was fairly imperialistic in this era as House Fordragon had taken the land from the existing Buffalo Tribes at the time and was fighting a long series of wars to consolidate Lexer's hold.

Government

Running a Theocratic Monarchy, Fordragon selected it's successors by the will and vote of the Church, believing that every leader must be literally appointed by God. In this case it was Manus, this kept Lexer a compliant subject for most of it's history. However the state lacked the institutional sophistication to effectively run the city and often favored the Merchant guilds.    Many documents of the Government are preserved to this day and outline how the Nobility often had far greater importance then the common person which eventually led to the people seeking The Democratic Republic as envisioned by Rosaria.

Reforms and Referendums

In the last 6 years before the revolution began on 0 AD, The government attempted a series of ineffectual reforms that were meant to give people rights and was the newly crowned King Argus' attempt to appease the growing revolutionary ire of the people. However it was too little and too late. While the reforms did in fact improve the status of rights, they were limited to Alicorns which still made Revolutionaries angry.   The Dragons of Lexer were tired of being oppressed and enslaved and of course joined House Verosa's side.

Military

The Military is a well categorized element of this version of Lexer, as it was a very large army that took 30 years to defeat and even after doing so, left the revolutionary forces in such a poor state, they were instantly annexed by the rising Northern Equestria. The Lexean army was revolutionary for feudal states, while Akicornia had a long standing army, Lexer unlike many other regions had far more then just a defensive force.   Indeed the Lexean Army was very much a large part of the Alicornian Military and did a lot of force projection and regulated other regions with their forces, freeing up room for the Imperial Army. The biggest weakness was their lack of preparation against Demonic forces and it is this fact alone that would eventually lead to their eventual downfall after Alicornia fell.

Production & Development

The Lexean Army had the benefit of a still Lush Lexean Plains and had a large network of cities and suppliers to keep their army stocked and unlike the Alicornian Army, was actually updating and upping their ability to fight. The Army does however depend on Private Companies to invent and produce their goods, a weakness they would later pay for.    Every city had a portion of it's output dedicated to the Lexean army and could also count  on contributions from other regions they were holding for the sake of Alicornia. When Alicornia crumbled they could no longer capitalize on this and struggled to project their power and thus there was damage done to their development and eventually crippling their ability to respond to the Republican Insurrections.

Doctrine

While the Lexean Army of today is famous for it's quick deployment, effective troops and Proto-squad combat, Old Lexer very much cared about Cross spectrum dominance and maintained peak power in all the fields they could. Deploying in massive formations, and unbelievably awe inspiring fashion. Fielding hundreds of thousands of Golems at a time.   This doctrine would later prove to be ineffective in the post apocalyptic world they would find themselves in during the Fall of Alicornia. In terms of Civilian areas, the army preferred big bulky static defenses which in their age was very effective thanks to a steady feed of recruits, supply and magic. However in the revolution it proved to be their greatest down fall. The Resistance was simply too quick and too effective, using minimal resources for maximum effect and in the end toppling the richer foe.    Their Fleets operated in a similar way however the sheer size of their airships and their fleets made logistics essential and without the resources they needed, the Fleets eventually became ineffective and were completely wiped out by the far, far smaller Resistance fleets.
