In the Pre War Era, OANN was bought out by Henry House in 2023 and turned into OAN. OAN is a State Media Corporation that exists as one of the Propaganda Arms of the Neo US Government and was fully established in 2024 after also buying CNN, Fox news and NBC and putting it all into OAN, with the idea of uniting the country along common grounds. OAN gets a lot of their funding from the Government in the form of contracts and they're paid directly by agencies and departments to spin their narratives and change public opinion and perception. They also get paid by companies to advertise and market certain policies corporations are taking, pooling in billions in USD achieving a Net worth of 16.89 Billion USD.Ideology & Structure
Neo Democracy is the game, every action the government takes will get fluffy praise by the network with soft criticism to sell the image of eing three thinking and critical which isn't the case. The Station engages a lot of Agit Prop on every show with same few lines of subtle propaganda and a lot of them involve interviews from "experts" on the matter they're talking about. Documentaries are rarer but still get made and are normally large deep dives into topics from the lense of Neo Democracy and is ultimately still complete propaganda.The Shows
3 Minutes with Bryce - Morning Slot, normally in happy hour that does digestible does of propaganda. Truth Seekers - Night Slot, 20 Minute duration and reacts to the story of the day, very reactionary. Expert View - Morning and Night slot, 10 minute duration and another dose with experts arguing in favor of Government positions on the day. The Break Down - All Day, various news broadcasts that is more informational but still propagandized to a lesser extent. Advertisements - Between every show, instead of ad breaks in shows, they have sponsorships pan by on sponsor bars and little images showing products and prices. Stockwatch - Meant for investors, no propaganda or advertisements, just pure business content. Cloudsight - Weather reports, happens every so often every day. Hello America - Morning show, plays from 5 AM -7 AM, ad breaks do exist in this one. (Expert View also often accompanies this. OAN is one of Neo America's top News shows and is very highly rated with it's narratives obviously spreading across the general public, with it being the most potent in privileged classes and having lesser presence in the lower class, most of the time. There is obviously quite a few people lower on the economic food chain who might still fall for OAN's bullshit. One thing that helps neo America's OAN sell it's propaganda is that it is speaking from a majority position, one of supremacy, bigotry and inherent aggression to all that is different from the norm or alternative and challenging to preconceived notions and normative positions. Obviously those of a more Progressive, Freedom Loving, Compassionate and just out right sane mind set will see OAN extremely negatively and see it's attempts to pander as nothing but a marketing ploy to still sell the image of being neutral arbiters of the truth.Changes
Having gone from AT&T to House Industries and finally to being fully owned by the Neo Us government has of course changed the station immensely and altered it's perceived creditability. In the past it had a Blue Red and White scheme and had slew of mostly white anchors with slant to blonde and brown hair and all were generally older floating around 20-30 with notable exceptions. Doing mostly Republican and Pro Winter Agit prop, Under house it turned monochrome with many of the anchors getting fired and replaced with more competent Anchors and journalist before finally absorbing major companies that fully innovated the station and updated it to the modern era. Now anchors were lean, unique and diverse. They also converted sides to Neo Democratic agendas which lost them Winterites but reached a far larger audience with more capable Propagandists at hand the station turned into the giant we know it as today. It's final changes was a conversion to a Red, Black and white scheme and lessend the presence of ads to make viewing the station a more tempting and pleasant experience. The days of B grade journalists, low rez, terrible quality broadcasts with tired talking points was behind them replaced by digestible, disgusting differently crypto fash propaganda, what a fucking awful upgrade."News for a United Nation"
