Amberwood Commune

"We understand that the Cataclysm changed this land in mysterious ways. The Everwood was never safe, but neither is nature. Now the blessed land is cursed in a way we don't understand. Our folk strive to gain that understanding and then remove that curse. It is plain to us that with the knowledge and power in the heart of the Elfwood we can fight against Chaos with greater power and finally end this Fourth Age."
- Guide Mevo

Structure

There are three roles in the commune. The Guardians are tasked with protecting the members of the commune and keeping the darkness from exiting the Everwood. Guides are the druids and those faithful to the nature gods such as Kor and Dal. Last are the Chroniclers who are gathering and preserving lore about the Everwood for future gerations.

Culture

Most of the members of the commune align themselves with Kor and many of his creations. They are attuned to the natural world, but also to the memories of the elven culture at the heart of the Everwood. Because of this the commune is primarily a mix of first folk and Yeno's folk.    They live simply in and around the druid circle itself. However many of them move in patrol groups along border of the Everwood and its surrounding areas. They attempt to keep others away from the dangers of the Everwood. But they also watch for ways to finally gain a foothold into the ancient kingdom.    From time to time their followers do end up in conflict with locals of the Duchy of Tarna and even the Empire of Theos itself. This is when someone gets the idea to enter the Everwood and attempt to claim it for some mundane reason. In some more civilized circles, the commune is considered dangerous and fanatical. There are also rumors that agents of the commune have infiltrated the local area to help turn a blind eye to the commune's activities. There are whispers that the Amberwood Commune may be corrupted by Chaos and be unaware of it.

History

After The Cataclysm impacted Reluria, a band of survivors left the Everwood, claiming to have salvaged saplings from the Castle Amber that was once the center of the Eternal Grove. Their goal was to keep the trees, learning and culture that once flourished in the great wood until they were able to reclaim it.    At first they were mobile and spent time moving along the borders of the Everwood looking for safe passage back in. But the situation inside the woods only grew worse, and the commune fell back to a patch of green near the Tevich Mountain chain in the western portion of the Duchy of Tarna. There they created a druid circle and used it as a base of operations.
