Crowned Commandant
A station appointed to an individual by the crowned-head of Centuron. They directly lead the castle guard in securing the keep under the magnificent crystal. As well, they lead the Crowned Order ensuring the protection of the kingdom. The Crownedsire can appoint generals to lead the three other branches of the order. These branches being: Settlement Enforcer, Periphery Security, and Regional Military. The generals report to the commandant, providing news of ongoings, personnel reports, and strategic advice. While also enacting plans of action they receive.
The Crowned Commandant reports and works directly with the King. Primarily acting as their personal guard. As such they often sit in on meetings with The Advisory Council, providing information to aid in the ruling of the kingdom. However, they must follow the King's orders, whatever they may be.
Qualifications
There are no set qualifications for an individual to hold the rank of Crowned Commandant, other than that they must be able to fight and defend the king. Many kings bring their own qualifications and disregard those of their former. Ultimately, the king decides whether or not an individual is qualified for the title of Crowned Commandant.
Requirements
The Crowned Commandant must be:
- Physically fit
- Proficient in every weapon
- Masterful with a single weapon
- Well versed in tactical strategy
- Committed to lay down their life if it meant saving the king.
Appointment
When the time comes to appoint a new Commandant, the king throws a contest of their choosing. A contest to attract all of the land's best fighters, and face them off to determine who ranks among the strongest of the strong. Finding the most desirable individual. The contest, known as the Appointment Festival, became a large spectacle that draws in many visitors and tourists. At the end of the festival, after all of the tournaments have finished, the king holds a crowning ceremony where they announce who will be the next Crowned Commandant.
Duties
The Crowned Commandant shares in the duties of all the soldiers and knights within Centuron. The Commandant strives for peace within the kingdom. They listen to their peers and come to the aid of the less fortunate. They are shining examples of Centuron, built from the ideals of the kingdom. "One alone can survive today. Two together can survive tomorrow." The Crowned Commandant is the second, the one to ensure tomorrow's safety.
Responsibilities
The Crownedsire leads the castle guard within the Crowned Order. Ensuring that there are enough guards, supplies, equipment and that each part of the castle is operating effectively. In addition the Commandant directs the generals of the Crowned Order. Guiding them in enacting the will of the crown.
Benefits
The Crowned Commandant receives their own quarters within the castle, and a monthly stipend of coin to spend in the markets. In addition to the material benefits, they gain political power as they follow the king and sit in on advisory meetings. As well the castle guard grow to have a fierce loyalty towards their Commandant. A loyalty that is often blind and has spread to the other branches of the Crowned Order.
