The Rises is the name given to the interior of the vast network of interconnected sky-scrapers that make up
The Divided City in the Realm of
Kastkardia. The people that live in the Rises are colloquially known as
High Risers.
Districts
The Rises are split up into numerous districts, each of which are, for the most part, divided up by profession, industry, and/or location of significance. For example, the farming district is named as such because the majority of the food in Kastkardia comes from there, and within the district there are numerous farms and plants dedicated to growing, developing and manufacturing certain types of foods. For the most part, people who live in the Rises are free to roam between the districts as they please, although there are some districts which are off-limits to civilians such as the High District, which is home to
The Sceptre and the government officials of the city.
The districts within the Rises are also often divided up by their relative height and the levels that they occupy within a building. For instance, the lower levels fo the buildings will often be the more accessible, generally residential districts home to the lower-classed inhabitants of the Rises (which, by comparison to the living conditions of The
Dwelling are much more well-off), and the higher levels are often reserved for people of high societal positions such as company owners or government officials.
Travel
There are multiple ways to travel between the different districts within the Rises, and people will often make use of both public and private transportation. All of the buildings that make up the Rises are connected via a large network of bridges, some of which are built for pedestrians, and others which are built for the train system that people can use to travel between the districts. If someone needs to travel a long distance, say from one side of the city to the other, it's common that they will travel via some kind of private transportation, often in the form a flying vehicle.
