Ruin Rutgar Castle
“The day Rutgar fell the entire kingdom felt it. It was the first settlement in these new lands and has been occupied for thousands of years. But now it’s a crumbled shadow of it’s former self. It’s usurper now sits upon the throne waiting for the Mist to encroach and claim more for her domain.”
~ Rutgarian Scholar
Purpose / Function
The Rutgarian Castle is where the leader of the Masquerade has claimed dominion over protected not only by her vampire companions but the mist as well. The most influential, mortal and vampire, members of the Masquerade are the only ones permitted to enter the domain.
The Rutgar Castle is also used to house the undead army that the Masquerade is gathering to strike when the time presents itself.
Alterations
The basement that once serves as the storage for wines and other perishables has been converted into a blood letting pit. Slaves, servants, and prisoners are chained to the walls and have blood drained from them to sate the hunger of the inhabitants of the castle.
The catacombs have been converted to living quarters for the vampires that reside in the castle. In addition, a laboratory for arcane and necromantic magic was built.
History
The Rutgar Castle was created after the landing of the HMS Expedition in the Hinterlands to house the head of the expedition, Roger Rutgar IV. The castle was then used as the main establishment for the funneling of information from the expedition teams to the King in Angelus.
In year 37 in the Age of Renewal Duke Aldir Rutgar III signed the Hinterland Independence Declaration into law. The castle was now the seat of power for the northern territories, and the rule of the Rutgarian blood line began.
