Book of evil deeds Volumes

  1. Motivations for each major faction to find the books

  • Grimlocks- driven by their mission to eradicate the liches and prevent the spread of necromantic influence. They may seek the volumes of the Book of Evil Deeds as a means to uncover weaknesses or vulnerabilities specific to liches, enabling them to more effectively combat these undead threats and protect the living, and prevent it from falling into the wrong hands. Secretly, the leader seeks to use it to expand the Blight faster, consume the continent and destroy everything in his madness.
  • IEF- The dwarven expeditionary force views the Book of Evil Deeds as a strategic asset that could provide them with a competitive edge in their pursuit of wealth and resources.
  • Herlend Army Forces- the technologically advanced society of Herlend sees the Book of Evil Deeds as a repository of knowledge that could advance their scientific understanding and technological development. They may believe that studying the forbidden spells and rituals within the volumes could lead to breakthroughs in steam-powered machinery, weaponry, or other innovations. Secretly, the leader of their army is sercretly a Litch conected to an order within the Dynasty, and hopes the vollumes may show a break to break that bond, without giving up him imortality.
  • Broken Crow Gang- The thieves of the Broken Crow Gang see the Book of Evil Deeds as a potential source of immense wealth. They may intend to sell the volumes to the highest bidder among collectors of rare and dangerous tomes, or they could exploit the dark knowledge within the books for their own gain, such as mastering forbidden spells or rituals to enhance their criminal enterprises.
  • Wyatts Riders- Seeking the glory associated with its aqusition, but also it would be an item of unparralelled power to add to Wyate's collection.
  • Vecnian Dynasty/Senjin's Family- Seeks it as a religious artifact of unparelelled importance, but also to enhance their own powers and knowledge.
  • Bran and the Wildheart Blight- beleives one of the volumes may contain secrets that could halt, or even reverse the expansion of teh Blight and free him. He is fighting against the will of the Blight itself to do so, and desperatly needs someone else to do it for him. (can not end the blight, but maybe seperate Bran from it? Replace with another?)

Who is the big Bad?- merric Gear Heart

  • His goal is the gather all the books of Evil Deeds, as well as any other powerful old god artifacts that he can get his ahnds on.
  • His primary goal is to manuver the situation to draw out the secrets to litchdom book held by Bran Wildheart; with an eternity before him, he can aford to wait until the books fall into the hands of someone willing to make a deal. But this book is stuck in place, so he needs something to move it.
  • His plan; give the secret of flight to Herdlend through the use of a representative autonomaton under the guise of a brilliant scientist working for Sir Henry Ironheart. Then he will provide secrets to controlling the shadows and creatures of the blight to Kas and the idea of weaponizing the blight to combat Herdlend... something only accomplished by creating a new druid litch which needs the book held by Bran wildheart. Then, after setting the stage for a race to retrieve it, he will take the book from whomever is successful.

Old God Artifacts;

  • Emberveil Cloak- Old God: Ignis, the Flame – The deity of fire and magma, Ignis is linked to destructive and transformative fire. This cloak allows the wearer to manipulate fire and heat, and its true power can cause fiery eruptions.
  • Tidebreaker Trident- Old God: Nerina, the Tide – Nerina governs the oceans and tides. This trident can command water, control currents, and when fully awakened, can summon colossal tidal waves.
  • Earthshard Amulet- Old God: Grondar, the Stone– The god of earth and mountains, Grondar’s essence is tied to the solidity and stability of the land. The amulet can manipulate earth and stone, and in its full potential, can cause earthquakes.
  • Galeweaver’s Band- Old God: Zephyra, the Wind Spirit – Zephyra embodies the power of the wind and sky. This ring can control the winds and grant the wearer flight; its true power can summon powerful tornadoes.
  • Frostveil Halberd- Old God: Hailor, the Frostbound – The deity of ice and winter, Hailor’s influence is in cold and frost. The Halberd allows the user to create and control ice, and its full potential can plunge an area into an unending winter.
  • Verdent Staff-Old God: Sylvara, the Verdant Queen – Sylvara, the goddess of nature and growth, grants the staff the ability to control plants and forests. Its awakened power can summon great natural phenomena like entangling vines or colossal trees.

New Beginnings - meeting together on their way to the city of Goatshire, on the northern coast of Wildreach.

  • traveling from a northern herdlandic city, thier ship is attacked by a group of pirates/sea monster attack. Opprotunity to distinguish themsleves in combat, as well as time beforehand to interact as passengers.
  • Reputation when they arive as having saved the ship.
  • Why would Makenna's character be traveling form a northern Herdlandic city?

lvl 4- The Mysterious Sargent Estross- lvl 4

  • marcus, heir to the silvershade Estate, hires the party to investigate sarget Estross, and discover/frame him of foul play so that he can take over the estate himself

1 week downtime- Singing Swords Festival

lvl 5- lvl 5- Derailed Train

  • Hired by Ed to travel to Tiberious Trail to meet a contact who has somethign interesting they pulled out of the Wildheart Blight? Asks the party to take the next Iron Snake to the city.
  • attacked by The Scourge, Greta Steel Fist, who destroys the Train.
  • Mission is to find a way to survive and get to the Tiberious Trail, random encounter heavy travel.
  • Find a wrecked Iron camel (herdlandic armored transport). A young Kobold (artificer NPC) is living in it, trying to tinker and fix it. Quest to get him the parts he needs from Broken Crow Gang, and he can fix it up ot be thier mobile base and help them run it. Possibilites of upgrading it down the road to be faster, heaviliy armored, or weaponize it.

lvl 6- lvl 6- Gang Sabotage

  • 5 day break in Tiberious trail, once they find Teddy, while he prepares for the travel to Magtin, doign the following quest during that break time.
  • Teddy was working as extra muscle for an IEF expidition into the Blight, the schoolar beleives that there is some hidden artifact within ruins that is of intrest to a number of parties, including the Broek Crow Gang, IEF, and Wyatts Riders. Notes recently discovered from a IEF research team from Legion Vally, who had apperentlly all been killed in a night raid in the later stages of the fortress being consumed, so the work was forgotten about and left.
  • Teddy wants to Sabotage the Broken Crow Gang group setting up in Tiberious Trail, before heading out to Magton after the IEF Schoolar and acompying Wyatts Riders.

lvl 7 lvl 7- Into the Blight

  • Horror Adventure
  • Meet the Schoolar, a impirial dwarf who has spent his life studying the Blight. they job is to escort him to the ruins, but secretly need to ensure that he does not find/get the book.
  • Head towards Magtin as a launching off point, and find the spores druid guide.
  • give information, the whispers are still bound to their statures, and c=have to return before sunrise to their bodies. ONly by destorying thier staues, or using dirict daylight (daylight spell) can they be pern=menetly destroyed.
  • Guided by a spores druid (eliza Riversong, short description found in Magtin page) who knows the Blight very well, valued friend of Teddy's who can be found outside Magtin. Will not enter the Legion Valley ruins with the party, but will help them get in and out of the Blight if they survive the ordeal.

between level up side quest- Tiberius trail- Sabotage at forgeworks

  • when checking on thier progress of thier bastion, run into someone who informs them that their debt to the water baron has been paid by the governor, in exchange for a meeting and a job (if they choose to accept).
  • the governor has heard of their exploits and their reputation has grown in the city as a group of competent adventurers who get things done, heightened by their trip to the blight. Moreso, they are new, and have yet to from solid ties to any of the factions within the city.
  • The governor is looking for unaligned people he can count on to help him defend his city from other powerful factions seeking to exploit it.

lvl 8-

  • return to Tiberious trail, suposed to bring the Book to Ed in Goatshire.
  • Ranger Litch is in the Tiberious Trail, asked to try and help him with his newest Prey (rumors of a dragon attacking Mouseland).
  • If they see ed in goatshire, Ed wants them to gather information on the ranger, any weaknesses he has. Warns that the ranger could be the most dangerous litch in the long run, gets more powerful with each kill, so if they can a chance to kill him they should take it.
  • Leads on a quest to kill a raised undead dragon, based out of Hedrens Hold ruins. Locals beleive it to be from the Dynasty. It can Create whispers from its breath weapon.
  • Based on an Elder brain dragon reflavoring, necrotic and shadow flavoring
  • Players have to decide whether they want to kill ranger litch or not
  • Discover that someone moved the stature of the dragon to put it in range of the city

2-3 weeks downtime In Goatshire or Tiberious Trail area. Mid Summers Night Festival will fall in this time period.

  • Ed will be looking into the location of other books, Gretta Steel Fist, and any other lingering questions or quests the party might have

lvl 9- Heisting Merric Gearheart.

  • halfway through the break, aproached by Valinetine, who has heard of the party and seems that they can handle themselves. she's looking for a crew to back her up on a very simple Breaking and entering, of the Gearsparks gadets in Tiberious trail. Promises to make it worth their while .
  • It isnt until she leads them to the back room that transports them to Gearsparks living Citidel that she tells them the whole plan, she has a item she traded for in the Hells that put Merric to sleep for 1 hour (real life, set up a 1 hour timer). She needs a planar traveler to find the way back out again (smokey, who can sense planar portals), and they need the Book Gearheart keeps in his treasury. Also opportunity to loot some major magical items, why not? Gearheart will want to kill you no matter what now, might as well.
  • set up to be a dungeon crawl, Legend of Zelda styled.
  • Finish the adventure in finding a way through the planar portals to get home.

lvl 10-

  • While in Goatshire towards the end of the downtime break, a Liason from the Dynasty pretending to be Abbil's counsin Sitama (who is dead) exploring trading options, finds the party and begins investiagating.
  • Moral Quandry for Senjiin, he is asked to help the Liason take out Abbil, who is a Honnorless and a "Herdlendic spy".
  • Has a hit squad on standby to attack the party as a whole, and possibly have a mission to take out local spy ring?
  • Also Include Herdlend Agents trying to take the party out as well, thinking the 2 vecnians are working for the Empire, maybe have to prove thier innocence.
  • This is where senjins confontation with the Judge makes the most sense,
  • end with ed discovering refrences that annie oakly has a book of vile deeds, and asking the party to try and collect

lvl 11-

  • The party travels to Fortune’s Bluff, a floating casino-city ruled by the enigmatic lich Annie Oakly, to seek an audience and locate the Book of Vile Deeds (Demonic Summonings, Vol. II). To meet Annie, they must win her favor through games of skill, chance, or clever manipulation within her casino, The Lady Luck. Wyatt Winchester, rival lich and leader of Wyatt’s Riders, is also present—negotiating for the Book or looking to steal it outright. General Vallis Thorne, a cleric-lich from Herdlend, arrives to broker a deal with Annie or recruit Wyatt—raising political tensions over Herdlend's expansion into Tiberious Trail. The party becomes entangled in a web of rival factions, needing to navigate alliances and deceit to secure the Book and avoid war. Annie finally offers a wager: win a best-of-three game of fate, where the stakes may include time, memories, or the future of nations. The party leaves with either the Book, a lead, or a divine mark—setting off the next phase of the campaign with higher stakes and rising tensions.

lvl 12- Mid Crisis

  • 3 Blight dragons attacks Goatshire. Survivial mission to help people, slay the dragons.
  • have Ed introduce the Herdlendic expirimental airforce that he has discovered, mini quest to clear the air feild and allow the secret Project Legacy (airplanes, styalized to look like dragons) to take off and help deal with the dragon? Saved file name, Dragon fighter Plane
  • Also have to deal with plant zombie outbreak?

2 weeks downtime, as ed searches for answers, and they help people in the city.

lvl 13-

  • ed instructing the party to go into the Dynasty seeking answers and following a lead on locating another Vollume of the book of evil deeds; also want ot talk to the last people who had seen dragons with thier own eyes are in the Dynasty.
  • Go through the reminients of Mouslend, then onto Ferdale, where a huge herdlend army is amassing to 'protect the boarders" of the Vecnian empire, but many are already speculating that the best defense is a good offense.
  • Traveling through Wildheart Blight, to avoid the checkpoints where Aunbrin would be found on the boarder, heading to Senjiins hometown.
  • Run into ranger litch (if they didnt kill him), who will help guide them through. Quest revolves around hunting/being hunted by Windigo in Wildheart Blight.
  • ends with them arriving in the city, include that there are many people and soldiers injured, being treated for wounds received from an invading Herdlend army.

lvl 14-

  • If they go to Senjins village, they will be greeted and honored
  • Senjins Uncle kas knows that Senjin is honorless, and has already informed the Eye of the parties arivial. Is very sad and confused by Senjins failing, possibility of having him be convinced to switch sides?
  • Admits to being the designer behind the attacks, insisting that they must do everything that they can to stop Herdlend, there is no hope to match their numbers or technology, and so other methods msut be used. Also admits to being the one who has imprisoned and tortured Vecna, as without him the people will falter.
  • His plan is to find Bran Wildheart, and create anothe rBlight in Wildreach, cutting off herdlend from their resources and crippling their war effort, before leading an invasion to wipe them out.
  • Asks Senjin to join the Order of Kas, regain his honor, and challenges him to sinlge combat if he refuses
  • Rest of party has a Confrentation with the Hand as he and his agents ambushes to party while sleeping
  • Possibly meet/interact wiht rebel group of Honnorless operating in the Dynasty, possibly having embranced herlendic weapons and tech.

lvl 15- and beyond

  • Herdlend is gearing up for an attack to take over Tiberious trail directly, to secure their supply lines
  • Herdlend is currently invading the Vecnian Dynasty
  • The dynasty is planning to create anothe blight in the middle of tiberious trail, to destoy herdlend supply lines.

NPC's and Ideas/Side quests to Include

  • ed the conspiriacy theorist, and his bestfriend/body guard who he beleives is an agent sent by the Keeper to keep him in check (he is right)
  • Kobold who is a pet to a powerful artificer, but master died/he ran away, now trying to make his own way in the world. Artificer build. make him the mechanic with the trasport?
  • cursed gunsliger build- hexblade and fighter battlemaster/gunsliger multi class insperation
  • an inventor who is developing hot air baloons and Zeplines in Herdlend, under much scrutiny from those who beleive the sky belongs to dragons, to take thier domain is a huge statment that will draw disdain at best, war at worst from the other nations.
