Despite thier skill as warriors, they were overcome by the supirior mass tactics and numbers of the dwarves, the final battle at the ansestral home of Clann Dragdon resulting in the death of Lugdran and the desctuction of the city. The Highlenders were subjected to harsh laws, heavy taxation, and social discrimination, treated as second-class citizens in their own homeland.
  • Resistance and Rebellion: Despite their marginalized status, the Highlender Halflings never lost their spirit of independence and pride. They resisted Roma Dwarven rule through acts of defiance, sabotage, and guerrilla warfare, forming underground resistance networks to fight for their freedom. These efforts were mostly in vain, though some continue the fight to modern day.
  • Cultural Suppression: The Roma Dwarves sought to suppress Highlender culture, banning traditional customs, languages, and religious practices in an attempt to assimilate them into dwarven society. Highlender children were forced to attend Roma schools, where their heritage would be systematically erased and replaced with Imperial teachings.
  • Revival and Renaissance: Despite centuries of persecution, the Highlender Halflings managed to preserve their cultural identity through oral traditions, folklore, and clandestine gatherings.
