Jealous of Halt's title as heir to the throne, his Brother Ferris attempts to assassinate him by poisoning his food. The attempt was a failure and Halt was violently ill, but otherwise unharmed, and he was left assuming his shrimp had only been spoiled.
Ferris attempted to kill Halt by dropping a stack roof tiles on him. He missed and only succeeded in badly cutting Halt's legs when the tiles shattered. Halt saw him, and realized what he was trying to do.
While fishing for salmon, Ferris pushed Halt overboard and attempted to drown him with an Oar. Halt swam underwater and to the shore. After this Halt left Hibernia.
Prince Duncan is freed from Castle Wildriver by Halt and Crowley while the rest of the Renegade Rangers arrest Tiller at Haller's Rill.

While staying at the Wyvern Inn, the inn was set ablaze by Jory Rhul's Gang. A child became trapped in the upper story of the inn, and Alyss entered the inn to rescue her. She successful saved the child by tossing her out of the window to her escort, but was killed before she could escape herself.
Jory Rhul's Gang set fire to the Wyvern Inn in as a distraction while escaping local authorities. The fire resulted in the inn's destruction and the death of Alyss Mainwaring.
Will Treaty tracked down Henry Wheeler, a brigand who took part in the destruction of the Wyvern Inn which led to the death of Alyss Mainwaring. During their altercation, Henry fell on his own knife and was killed.
