Kiep Sau
When one dies, their souls is ferried by one of Chet's shepherds to Kiep Sau. This plane is the afterlife where one must pass through before hopefully reaching their final resting place.
Geography
When one passes away, the material plane and Kiep Sau overlap briefly. In this moment, a person could be mistaken to think that things are the same, although mostly void of colorls. However, once they leave the immediate area, the true form of Kiep Sau takes shape. Their death location is an island surrounded by a boundless river. Upstream, the river seems endless and downriver the horizon ends in a cascading waterfall. The river flows naturally downward and when the Death Shepherd arrives in their canoe, the mortal is carried over the falls to be judged and taken to their final resting place. Depending on who the mortal worshiped in life will determine where they are ferried after Chet's judgement. Even if they do not worship a god within the Menagerie, so long as a person dies on Quai Thu they must pass through Kiep Sau.
Localized Phenomena
Their is an exception to the flow of the river. When divine casters attempt to revive an individual, the river moves unnaturally and the waterfall flows upwards. In doing so, the Death Shepherd's canoe is pulled back to the island where the material plane and Kiep Sau touch.
Fauna & Flora
The afterlife is not void of native creature, although most of which are not living. Large crocodiles have been said to swim in the great river, consuming souls who try to swim away from the deva of Chet. They also enjoy "sunning" themselves upon the temporary island that are formed when mortal arrive, and serve as a premonition for the arrive a Death Shepherd. The God of decay, Phan Ra, also has its presence here as well. Vulturous harpies and other creatures that consume both the living and the dead often flock to where new arrivals appear.
All manner of undead can be found here. Souls deemed unworthy by Chet are forced to wander the plane, unable to rest. They can take a variety of forms from ghouls to eidolons to skeletons. The key difference is that these undead have already been judged and have no fear of the divine. Clerics who attempt to cast turn undead while in Kiep Sau are in for quite the surprise.
As mentioned before, Kiep Sau is devoid of most colors, but there is one noticeable exception to this. Blood orchids that bloom on the material plane keep their color when two planes meet.
