3/3/21 - Fixing the Wish

General Summary

Safely outside the city, Welcome Tasks had a long discussion with the djinn, Connaissance. Some headway was made about the parameter’s of Slayer's wish, but the full extent of what happens when you make yourself an enemy is still unclear. It was decided that bending reality a third time was not the best option and that asking Milam's mentor for help was needed. The priestess of Mystra  was contacted via a Message spell, and she and her familiar met up with Welcome Tasks. Before helping the group, she needed to be brought up to speed on what was going on.   When all the information was laid out, Lilly had a lot of questions including: would breaking the wish cause you to become an enemy of Slayer, what are the odds of breaking at least part of the aura that is affecting the Slayer, how do planes interact with one another, and what happens when djinns are killed. Through this debate, a plan was formulated. the priestess would cast Dispel Magic through her familiar, and if it failed, then at worst she could just re-summon the spectator later. This seemed like a win-win, as the priestess was very keen on learning anything she could about other dimensions.   The familiar channeled the spell from Lilly, but vanished from existence by the very same aura it was trying to dispel. Unsure if it was successful, Slayer tested the spectator’s magic. In a somewhat ironic twist, he was able to disturb a hiding venomous snake which bit the Tabaxi without vanishing. Happy to be freed from his self made curse, Slayer and the others thanked the priestess, who was already busy trying to resummon her familiar. However, when the ritual was complete the spectator did not reappear. Like Malikae casting Message to the captain of the guard , the group surmised that wherever those creatures went, they cannot be reached or returned. Deciding that the djinn was too strong to simply be left alone, Welcome Tasks saved their last wish and concluded the best place for Connaissance would be deep inside Temple Helm. With that, they said their goodbyes to the priestess and headed Southward along the Waukeen River.   The party wanted to make it there with great speed, as Malikae needs to perform his ceremonial rites in the next twelve days. As night fell, Welcome Tasks rested along the Eastern bank, away from the “dread” swamp where Facili once lived. The rest was almost interrupted until a pair of Treant took slight at the party’s campfire. While normally very tough, the group’s overwhelming access to fire based magic made quick work of the creatures. Now with the dawn light over the horizon, the party is ready to get some much needed rest. However, just because one threat was defeated, does not mean they are safe...
