Act 4:3
He's nervous; for the first time thinking maybe this wasn't as grand idea as it was in his head.
His old pack is here for the grand tour; his ship's not quite ready - but Kidd will need to start looking for a crew here in the next few weeks. He might be an alpha, but he's only 17 still. Boogie and Mosh have rejected quite a few maybe's and Ska has rejected the others. Kidd's still at a crew of five, if he counts himself... but there's time.
He's just... he just needs the ship to pass Killer's approval - and the omega has no idea what he's about to be asked to agree to.
Hearth & Wire were Killer's pack for the last three years, and he needs to make sure they approve too - less they talk Killer into staying behind.
When he'd registered a name for his ship - he never imagined Killer would ever want to sail with him - and so Kidd had named her after home.
His childhood pack is exploring the bare bones of the ship in the dry docks, but Killer hasn't boarded yet. He's studying her bow, looking at the decorative letters stenciled out, but yet painted in.
Kidd palm are sweaty, and Killer must smell his anxiety, smirking over at him.
"What have you done now?" he muses, before teasing, "Bashful as a child."
"Same thing I've been doing all my life," Kidd steps next to him, looking up at his ship. "Named her after the most important, bravest girl I knew. I did actually try to mix it up this time... sorry I didn't know how to spell Doruyanaika. Guy at the registrar office didn't know either."
Killer shook his head. Honestly, he wasn't sure he knew either. The large letters of the Victoria Punk outlined above them as Kidd head bumps him, mulling over the name of his new home.
Killer is quiet, studying the letters. Painful memories tied up in a name of someone long gone... for him, nothing but dark horror and fear and pain. but for Kidd..
It's the Lighthouse all over again.
For Kidd, Victoria was brave even in their fear. They were strong and patient, and for all the abuse they took from their alpha - they gave it back tenfold when it was clear it was not just their own life on the line.
Victoria slayed giants.
"Ridiculous boy," Killer joshes him, signing into his hair.
"Are you okay?"
"... maybe. It is kinda nice... that someone cared about them in the end after all." He looks a the letters, a dedication to a dead girl. "Just don't tell Quincy that /important/ part, you'll break her heart. She's under the impression she's your best girl."
"Oi," UK called down from the railing, "Captain. you gonna show us around or are we just guessing where things go up here?"
Kidd frowned, "What are you on about?"
"Where's our room?"
Killer chuckled, but said nothing, as Kidd stomped over to the gangplank, "excuse me?"
"Because i call dibs on the big one atop the castle in the back otherwise."
"That's /my/ fucking room!"
His old pack was arguing over where their nest should be, Kidd standing dumbfounded on deck watching in confusion, "Will someone PLEASE explain to me what you are all on about?"
Hearth held Dive's hand, watching it unfold; his own omegas voicing their own options while Wire and his betas seem to be placing bets of some kind amongst themselves along the rail.
"I believe, that you sold this dream of yours too well," Hearth offered. "A place where the sky and sea never end? Stars as numerous as sand on the beach? Water as blue as sapphires? What sapphires do you think we get looking at?"
Kidd looked at him in confusion, before looking back to the group. He didn't know Hearth's omegas so well, but the five of them seemed to be right at home with Kidd's six. Boogie and Mosh were looking at him in amusement from the rail as Ska and Hop inserted themselves in the argument over the best place to nest.
"What in the four blues are y'all goign on about?" Kidd yelled, getting the collected group attention.
Killer had followed him up the gangplank much slower, looking to Hearth for an explanation. The older omega just smirked. Seeing Killer, Dive ran up to him, demanding to be picked up. He lifted the pup up with ease, and Kidd looked back at him bewildered.
Killer just shrugged in responce.
Compo slung an arm around Ska and grinned at Kidd, "Like we're letting you run off on us a second time! Stupid alpha, we're your pack. We know you had to figure some shit out, we get it. But you can come waltzing in and then think you would waltz back out again!"
UK, Bubblegum, Hip and Hop, Papas and Quincy all grinned back at him.
Wire and Hearth approached then, looking at their own pack who nodded in agreement.
"We've grown rather fond of your pack's company over the last few years" Wire said causally, "Hearth and Killer are almost.. fond of each other, I would even say. It would be a crime to break the family up now."
The two pack leaders looked at Kidd, "If, of course, you'd be amenable. Alpha."
Killer looked up in surprise, as blindsided by it as Kidd was.
Kidd looked around the deck, family, old and new. "Captain." he corrected. "Not Alpha. Captain."
