Act 4:2

He's 17, and he's pulled Killer aside. It's Hearth and Wire's pack - sans Kidd's trio of betas - and the last year has taught him that he has to try harder than the rest to not throw his weight around.   He's an alpha - but he'd not THEIR alpha. He's not their pup anymore either, and he thinks he's starting to understand the new dynamics.   But he wants to ask something of Killer, and he needs the man's honest answer - soothing his smell over until it's an unobtrusive as a beta.   Killer raises an eyebrow.   "I want to go back to the sea." Kidd admits, catching Killer's hand before the frown can form on his friend's face, "But... but I want you to come with me this time. I've ... I've got a ship, she'll be ready in the spring, so you don't have to-"   "Okay."   "Des.. what? 'Okay' what?"   "I want to go with you."   "Just like that?"   Killer grinned, butting heads with him, "You never shut up about the ocean, of course I want to go. I want to meet this lady love of yours that replaced me in your heart."   Kidd isn't sure if Killer is teasing, but he sounds sincere, "No one replace -"   "It's okay, Kidd. It's better this way."                     "How big is your crew?" Wire asked one night, and Kidd fought a blush, "I'm.. still getting that part figured out. Boogie and Mosh already knew my plan, and Ska, of course. Me and Kil'. So there's five of us - probably need another 10, but my last captain said she can recommend some sailors depending on how far I want to sail."   "Where would that be, do you think?"   Kidd looked up at the night sky, hazy and smoggy. Somewhere up there was the canopy of stars that he's spent the last few years awed by. "I dunno yet. As far as I can, I think..."   "Hmm" is all Wire says.                     "As far as you can?" Hearth asks him later.   "You should see the sky out here Hearth, " Kidd marvels to him, "Its like something out of a dream. Sea and stars, reaching on forever."
