Kevin Smith

Kevin Smith is one of the main protagonists from “Pulled from Another World”. He and his fiancee Jessica Petterson were abruptly snatched from there world and transported to a fantasy world. He finds that he is now is character from the SMMORPG Deicide: No Gods, No Kings .

Personality

Kevin has a laid back demeanor, a far cry from his chaotic childhood. He is extremely organized having had to raise his siblings at a young age. He is seen as responsible, hard working and reliable. He enjoys his quiet and has only a handful of friends outside of his adopted brother and sister.
Kevin spent the majority of his life working odd jobs around the Sol Relay which molded his work ethic and dislike of those that refuse to work. As a rule of thumb he stays out of other people's business and expects others to do the same for him. Having grown up without parents and having to protect himself and his siblings from all manors of threats he is short tempered to things he sees disrespect.
Tracing back to his more formative years in the orphanage he was a part of a sweatshop which worked children to death. He managed to escape and joined a gang to take care of himself. He would leave the gang at the age of fifteen when he met Jason and Wynn. He promised to be better for them and prevent them from going to the orphanage while also keeping them out of trouble.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Like most people on the Centauri Celestial Bridge Kevin is of deeply mixed racial heritage. The term used for his people are simply called Bridgers. He is twenty six years old at the start of the story and has been implanted with the Sensory Augmentation Grade-5. The augmentation is connected directly to his central nervous system and can be seen in several nodes on his body.

Body Features

Kevin is six feet tall with a tan skin complexion. His hair is long reddish-black with very loose curls and is usually up in a bun. His eyes are light brown and heis usually clean shaven because he can not grow a full beard and is self conscious about it. Normally he is seen in a hoodie and sweatpants which makes up the majority of his wardrobe. Most of his shirts are graphic tees which have references to cartoons from his childhood.

Early Childhood

Kevin was born in the Centauri Celestial Bridges  in the Tifon Relay Station Medical Ward on September 12th, 2348. There he was forfeited by his biological mother and entered into the Tifon Orphanage System. There he would be given the designation Kilo-920 until his third birthday after no adoptee parents were found for him. He was given the AI generated name of Kevin with the orphan last name of Smith. He would spend his first six years of life in the Tifon Orphanage system until it was bought by the Centauri Orphan Assistance Program in 2354.
While in the COAP he would be moved from his home Relay to the Yami Relay Station over the Unified Coalition of Asia. There he would receive basic education until he was 12 when COAP collapsed under allegations of abuse, human trafficking and sexual misconduct. While it was later found to be false, the harm to COAP’s reputation and the pulling out of venture and investor capital led to the organization breaking up and shedding many of its branches to local orphanages. Kevin would again be moved after the Yami COAP Branch closed down.

Teens

Kevin would be moved to the Little Dipper Relay Station where he was entered into the Doxen Corporation Foster Care Facility. There he would continue his education but also be expected to work for his room and board. He like many other children, would be forced to work long hours in sweatshops for the Doxen Corporation under the guise of enrichment activities. The continued exploitation of children in the foster care system after the collapse of COAP continued throughout Kevin’s teens.
At the age of thirteen Kevin would join the Star Kings gang after surviving the “jumpin’in” which consisted of him being beat up by members several times. The Star Kings was a dangerous group which participated in many horrific crimes throughout the Bridge. Kevin himself, being a low ranking member, was primarily a lookout and drug mule. He planned on using the money he got to leave the Bridge for good.

His life would change after he met Jason and Wynn. The two twins remind him of himself before and he wanted to provide a better life for them than he had in the Doxen Corporation or the gangs. He would form a familial bond with them and keep them from getting taken advantage as thier older brother.
During a raid on the Star Kings which ended in a tragic shoot-out most of the members of the group were killed or sent to prison. Kevin took the opportunity to steal thousands of dollars from one of Star Kings off the books warehouses before the police could raid it. He would used the money to pay for himself and his new siblings to go back to The Tifon Relay Station where he hoped to find his biological parents.
Kevin would spend the next few years turning 16 working odd jobs in Tifon while simultaneously taking care of Wynn and Jason. His investigation into finding his mother or father led him to finding both though he wished he didn’t. His mother was married and happy with a family and more children of her own.
He would find through news clipping that she was one of many women that were assaulted when she was very young and he was a product of that assault which is why she gave him up. He wanted to comfort her but never did and his father was in prison for life and Kevin had no intention of reaching out to him. He would tell Jason and Wynn who were nine at the time that he didn't find them. Dejected by his search he would take his family and leave Tifon following work around the Bridge never staying in one place very long.

Young Adult

At 18 years old Kevin would be introduced into the gaming sphere by chance. One of his friends was an avid gamer and while Kevin initially never had any interest in video games he quickly became addicted to the escapism he got from them. Kevin would put more and more money into the experience until he finally made the plunge into getting a grade-2 Sensory Augmentation. Soon after he started streaming under the alias Double Tap, seeing it as a potential means to make more money on the side.
He quickly rose to prominence due to his coverage on and excitement for the launch of Deicide. His meteoric rise was coupled with his unprecedented skill in gaming. Which lead to him getting brand deals for his streams and even being invited along with many others to be beta testers on Mars at Tharsis09 Interactives development studio. Kevin would end up making the trip with Jason and Wynn after pleading with organizers to allow them to come with him.
