Deicide: No Gods, No Kings
Game Summary
Deicide: No Gods, No Kings is the fictional online game featured in the “Pulled from Another World” web series. The game is one of many online game experiences published by the megacorporation HyronTec INC. and developed on Mars by Tharsis09 Interactive LLC. The game was originally published as Deicide but has had four major updates which changed its name each time with No Gods, No Kings being the newest update.
The game was first announced in June of 2360 where it received a lack luster reception in the wake of other high fantasy giants dominating the market at the time. After several delays the test servers were operational on Mars which allowed applicants who were chosen from a pool to play for two months all expense payed. Participants weren’t allowed to talk about their experience until the closure of the test servers.
When the embargo was lifted the news spread like wild fire from those that played the game how D:NGNK was unlike any other game on the market. Though by this point the game had two delays leading to the final release being September 14th, 2367. Due to a fantastic marketing department the game had the highest first day sales of any MMORPG and holds the record even to current day (February 29th, 2374).
Development
[
Deicide is a MMORPG that is a major passion project released on September 14th, 2367. The game was developed by the Martian game studio Tharsis09 Interactive LLC. and published by HyronTec INC. Due to the games stupendous marketing strategies it broke records for largest first day sales of any MMORPG in history. This was despite the fact it was announced to a less than lackluster response from the public and suffering several major delays.
A major selling point for the game was the fact that it was the first game would have one server which would allow people one Earth, Mars and several large space colonies to play realtime. This would be the first MMORPG to use the hyperspace Telecommunication network. The estimated hardware cost to develop create the specialized communication towers $7,000,000,000,000.
The game is entirely online and could connect directly into a player’s sensory augmentations grade-5 or newer. Those without augmentations could play on a HyronTec Sensory Console. Both methods required the player to be in a neutral position preferably at home or a HyronTec Game Center. The game allowed a full virtual reality experience including sight, sound, taste, temperature and touch. Though in accordance with virtual reality laws the game could not allow for extreme sensations like pain and could not allow the user to feel full of eating or drinking in game.
The game also had one of the most advanced gaming engines developed called OmniLexicon. The game allowed for unparalleled customization for the player. The player could create up to three avatars with the option to purchase more slots in the Cash Shop. According to the games online page, with the exception of four, every race you can come across in the game could be unlocked and played in one form or another.
Worlds
D:NGNK is divided into two realms which takes inspiration from many cultures and religions. The world of mortals called Tonantzin and the world of the celestials called Enthroned. Both worlds were fully explorable with each map being approximately 75% the size of Earth. Players would start in Tonantzin if they chose any mortal or undead races. If the player chose a celestial, they would start in Enthroned.
Depending on the race the player chose would also determine were in their respective world they would start. Starter cities were all connected via a teleportation network which cost Visrol or Fel to use in their respected realms.
A mysterious third realm is supposed to be released during the next major update “Legacy of the Pit Walkers” expansion.
Races
Races in D:NGNK races are divided into three major groups. The exact number of playable races has never been released. Once a player unlocked a new race by meeting certain in game prerequisites they could use one of their character slots to create a character in that race. Each race would evolve over time once they have leveled high enough. While some races would change form or appearance like angels, other races, like humans, would remain the same physically.
All races have racial perks, strengths and weaknesses. The race chosen can also affect how the world acts around the player. Some races aren’t allowed in certain towns or regions. Angels for example aren’t allowed in most elven cities. If an Angel player goes to one of these cities they may be attacked by NPCs or players. If they want to enter the city they must use the skill [Conceal Race] which will make them look like a human or elf.
- Toran include all living races native to Tonantzin such as human, elves, centaurs, lamia, doppelgangers, etc. With the exception of dracálfer and several other races the corporeal races would age over time and had limited life spands.
- Celestial includes all races native to Enthroned such as angels, demons, shinigami, genies, etc. The celestials were all biologically immortal and would stop aging after reaching their prime.
- Undead the undead were dead Earthen beings who were giving un-life by black magic or necromancy. All undead are hated and feared by the general public and will be attacked by NPC guards, or adventurers.
Racial Jobs
In addition to character races they can also chose one racial job. The racial job offers some small buff effect or spell which the character can activate. During the character creation each player can choose from a list of racial jobs for their character. The player could unlock or discover new exotic racial jobs which offer much better spell/skills than those offered at the beginning of the game. A player could change their racial job at a job broker in game if they have the money for the in-game application. Once a racial job is changed all buffs placed on the player or any players they used the skill will disappear.
Players could also level their racial jobs which would make their titles as well as the buffs/skills increase in power. This could make beginner racial jobs viable in later game but due to the tedium of leveling low-level racial jobs most people would simply change to better jobs once they become available. Due to the secretive nature of the game and many of the top players there no one knows the exact number of jobs.
Character Creation
When a new player first logs in to D:NGNK they are taken to the character creation after a short skippable cinematic and game intro. The first option for character creation is to choose a group. The player can be either an Toran, Celestial or Undead. The player gets a brief description of the three groups as well as a short video on the basic races in each group.
New players may be pleased to see that they have 33 races they can chose from right off the bat. With the majority being split between the Toran with 19 starting races and Celestial with 11. The Undead group only has three to select in the beginning. As the player progresses in the game they can unlock races by completing various tasks or quests. The game boast that every creature in the game with the exception of only raid bosses and specialty races can be played as in one form or another. This includes insects, fish, non-humanoids and even enemy creatures.
During the character creation the player can fully customized their character with the most intuitive race slider and molding of the time. While some aspects of races cannot be change like making an elf look like an Centaur it did allow for the most extensive creator of its time at launch.
At the end of character creation, the game allows for the player to create their own bio which is primarily for roll-play purposes. Once the bio is created the player cannot delete it as it is a permeant feature of the character. However, the player can add to the bio as they play as a journal or log. This allows the player to have an evolving character if they so choose. Although this function is completely optional.
Next, is the date of birth and age of character which is important as characters in game DO age if they are Toran a “Year” in game being two earth years. In the game they do recommended choosing younger characters as characters can die from old age. In this selection the player also chooses their Star Alignment which is similar to a horoscope. Each of the 50 Star Alignments have a special effect that will activate a few days out of the game year some overlapping with others.
The player will also get the option to choose their racial job which can be changed anytime in game provided the player has the money to apply to the job broker using in-game money. Starting racial jobs are basic level with more prestigious jobs available once the character reaches certain milestones. Racial jobs also gives the player perks or skills which can be activated at certain times or after completing whatever prerequisite is required
Avatars
In D:NGNK the avatar is the character the player is a they play the game. Player can have a total of 4 character slots on each profile. With more character slots only available through purchase in the Cash Store. The first avatar is automatically set as the ‘main’ however this feature can be changed after a second avatar is created. Every avatar other than the main is call a ‘sub’ avatar.
In DNGNK all of a player’s avatars are present in the world at the same time and do not leave the world once the player logs out or switches between them. Instead they will become NPCs and wonder around Player Safe Zones, Player Home, or Guild Halls. If a player is in a dangerous area and logs out or disconnects he/she will be moved to the nearest safe zone.
The avatars have a complex system of programable commands ranging from combat to animations. Do to this extensive system many people have very detailed avatar coding for any situation. Depending on the purpose of the avatar a person may create a very complex series of code/commands which the avatar will follow whether or not the player is in game. This can allow players to send avatars off on quest, collect crafting materials, trade items, manage organizations and a host of other complex tasks. The most complexly coded PVP avatar combat can be more skilled then real player in opponents. If programed correctly can be just as unpredictable.

Future Updates
Legacy of the Pit Walkers is the rumored next major update for Deicide. The LPW update is supposed to add new races including the fourth racial group called Atrocities. Information regarding the new update is mainly rumor as it isn’t scheduled to release for another 2 years. Supposed leaked concept art of the new update shows the full title being Deicide: Legacy of the Pit Walkers. In the image it shows a hand with thin fingers reaching out from the darkness to grab the title. Many people believe it to be a fake because the Pit Walkers have not made any appearance in the game beside in text found in the “Butcher of Gods” library in Enthroned. Other than this very little is known about the Pit Walkers.
Another rumor for the next update is the “The Gods of Undeath” which according to the rumors is supposedly the return of the Dark Gods which do to their dabbling in undead magic brought themselves back to life as the first Undead Gods. This rumor actually has lore-based merit as it has already been established that Celestials can be made into undead. This is further alluded to in the quest “Devourer of Armies” which the player group must defeat the last Devourer created by the Dark Gods. One of the lines the Devourer says is “Made me from undeath they did… so they… my creators… may return.”
This theory is also confirmed by going into the Ruined City the Dark Ones and finding the book “Deus Necromant” which states that the Dark Gods feared that the “Butcher of Gods” would find them. They experimented with Undeath magic to preserve themselves should they die. It was out of desperation and fear that they created the Devourer which they believed to be the final step before they could make themselves Undead Gods. Though it is unknown if they succeeded before they were betrayed and killed.
