Horizon

The third planet in the Sira system, Horizon is the "Homeworld" of the Exodians. Classified as a temperate continental world, it's similarities to Old Earth made Horizon the ideal world for the Human ancestors of the Exodians to settle when they initially arrived in the Proxima Galaxy.

Geography

The planet of Horizon has water covering 70% of its surface, with the landmasses consisting of three large continents (Caldan, Reluin, and Azera). The majority of Horizons geography consists of plains, both hilly and flat, with forests and mountains scattered throughout, as well as numerous lakes. The northern and southern caps of the planet are covered in ice, and there's a small desert around the equatorial region. The regions of the planet that have been settled by the Exodians are heavily urbanized, with sprawling cityscapes dotting the planet surface.

Localized Phenomena

The weather of Horizon is much the same as that of Old Earth, though large storms such as hurricanes are much rarer.

Climate

Horizon has an overall temperate climate, which varies slightly with the changing of the seasons. Beyond this, the climate gets much colder towards the poles, and stays consistently warm around the equator.

Fauna & Flora

Much of the flora of Horizon is similar to that of the temperate biomes of Old Earth, though tropical environments are more common near the coastlines of the south, and regions closer to the poles transition into tundra. Additionally, while the local wildlife is completely alien to that of Old Earth, with only some passing similarities, it's generally non-hostile.

Natural Resources

Horizon contains forests for wood, plenty of arable land for farming, and mountains for metals and ores.

History

The history of the world of Horizon was initially unremarkable, being an unsettled world at the edge of Halai occupied space. It wasn't until the arrival of the Exodians in the Proxima Galaxy that the planet gained any significance. When the Now Horizon fleet first arrived in the Sira system via wormhole travel, their first major concern was finding a habitable world to settle and resupply, with Horizon (then known simple as Sira 3) being the most promising candidate for colonisation. However, before they could make planetfall, the New Horizon fleet was intercepted by a Halai scout fleet, who had come to investigate the local energy surge from the collpsed wormhole. What followed was a lengthy series of negotiations between the Exodians and the Halai, with one of the concessions granted during these talks being the right to settle on Horizon, as it was the only habitable world within range of the fleet, and it wasn't officially within the territory of the Halai. Since then, the planet has grown to become the bustling center of Exodian society.

Tourism

As the homeworld of the Exodians, Horizon sees many visitors from both Exodians and other races for a variety of reasons, including trade, diplomacy, and sightseeing.
