Exodia

Located on the continent of Caldan on the world of Horizon, Exodia is the administrative center of the planet, as well the capital city of the Exodians. Originally built from, and named for, the colony ship UTS Exodia, the city of Exodia holds great significance to the Exodian people as a reminder of their heritage. Today, the city of Exodia has grown into a bustling urban center, and stands as a symbol of the adaptiveness and adventurous spirit of the Exodian people.

Demographics

The population of Exodia is primarily made up of Exodians, though members of other races can be found among them as well, with the Halai being a particular stand out.

Government

Exodia is run by a democratically elected governor, who oversees the operations of the city and the surrounding towns. It is also the seat of power for the Planetary Governor of Horizon, as well as the President of the United Exodian Systems (UES). All taxes collected are transferred to the Planetary Reserve, to be used to fund maintenaince of the cities infrastructure, as well as the various services within the city (healthcare, law enforcement, etc.).

Defences

Anticipating potential threats to their colonial efforts (primarily from hostile wildlife), the Exodia was designed with a perimeter defense system, consisting of walls, shields, and automated sentry guns. Since Horizon was fully colonized, most of these defenses have been disabled, though they are still maintained so as not to fall into disrepair.

Infrastructure

The original colony ship that the city of Exodia was built from was designed to be converted into a sustainable living center upon arrival at a habitable planet. As such, the city already came with a working sewage system, power generator, and hydroponics system, all of which would be further expanded once the city had been fully established on the planet surface. Additionally, much of the space for living areas of the city had been designed in a manner similar to a typical city layout, greatly cutting down the time needed to get things like civic offices and apartment complexes established in the new colony. Once the colony was established, additional expansions to the cities industryand trade were made (including factories, shops, and trading centers), as well as expantions to living spaces outside the initial settlement area in order to accomodate the increase in population.

Districts

Administrative District:

The center of government within the city of Exodia. It's here where the Exodian Administrative Complex can be found, alongside the UES Reserve and Exodian Archives, as well as a number of bureaucratic offices.

Residential District

The largest section of the city, containing all of the residential buildings. It's also here where Harkin Park can be found.

Financial District

Established not long after the founding of Exodia, this is where the cities shopping centers and corporate offices are located. It's also here where the Exodian Spaceport, as well as other major transit centers, can be found.

Industrial District

Established around the same time as the Financial District, this is where the cities heavy industry, including factories, foundries, and power plants, can be found.

History

The city of Exodia originally began life as the lead colony ship of the New Horizon expedition fleet. When the fleet became cut off from any aid from the Milky Way Galaxy, it was the Exodia and its fellow colony ships that ensured the survival of the colonists. When the fleet began the process of colonising Horizon, which included the conversion of the colony ships into settlements, many looked to the newly established city of Exodia for leadership during those first years. It was thanks to the efforts of the Exodia and its crew that the ancestors of the Exodians were able to grow and prosper into the galactic power that they are now, and the city continues to be regarded as a symbol of the resilience and pioneering spirit that brought them to their new home.

Points of interest

Harkin Park: Located in Exodias Residential District, Harkin Park is considered to be one of Exodias must-see destinations. Named for Admiral Elias Harkin, the first leader of the Exodians, this massive park contains numerous ponds and trails, making it a favourite destination for both tourists and locals alike.

New Horizon Plaza: Located in Exodias Administrative District, New Horizon Plaza serves as the city center of the colony. Sitting at the base of the Exodian Administrative Complex, it's here where visitors can find the Founders Monument, which commemorates the Original Human colonists who first settled the planet.

The Grand Exodian Archives: Located in the Administrative District, the Grand Exodian Archives are the largest repository of knowledge not just in the city, but on the entire planet. As a combination between a library and a museum, the Grand Archives contains a wealth of knowledge on a wide variety of subjects, attracting both scholars and tourists alike.

The Exodian Administrative Complex: Located in the Administrative District, the Administrative Complex serves as the seat of government for the city of Exodia, the planet of Horizon, and the UES as a whole. Originally converted from the bridge of the colony ship, this complex contains a number of offices and facilities focused on the various tasks that come with running a star-spanning civilisation.

Tourism

Exodia draws in many visitors from across the galaxy, and while many of them are of Exodian origin, members of other races are frequently seen here as well, ranging from diplomats to sightseers.

Architecture

The buildings of Exodia are mostly made up of straight geometric shapes, with rectangles being the most common such shapes seen, though certain structures (like the Archives, Administrative Complex, and entertainment centers) also incorporate smooth curves in their design.
