Munchskin

"What the FUCK just bit me, Harold?"
"What do you mean something bit you?"
"Something bit me! I walked through this bush and something bit me!"
"Ah fuck, that's a munchskin."
"WHAT THE FUCK IS A MUNCHSKIN?!"
— Harold.... & other

Nibble, nibble

Hard to spot, even harder to deal with, munchskins are found in the places between forests and swamps. They are generally harmless, and aren't able to cause a significant amount of damage to living creatures that move through it. However, should you stop within reach of their branches, they can quickly swallow you up, bringing you into a soft, tight embrace where it gnaws at your skin.   The blades of leaves that sprout from its branches act as its mouths, slowly cutting through your flesh and bones, absorbing your blood and bringing nourishment through its veins and to the core of the plant.

Bloody roots

Munchskins are capable of reproduction, however they generally do not utilize it. Instead of reproducing and causing new plants to sprout, they prefer to kill the roots of other plants and subsume them, causing their reach to increase and their hunger to grow. While no individual munchskin has ever exceeded several meters in length, there is nothing stopping a munchskin from subsuming every plant within miles of it, as long as it stays within its boundary of the forests and swamps.   Despite their rather vicious nature, munchskins do sedate their prey as they devour them. While this may be seen as an act of mercy from the creature, it isn't. Their use of sedation on their prey is entirely for the purpose of self preservation, as prey that is awake when it is being devoured tends to become violent and injure it.   Some have thought of the munchskin as an effective method of torture, however this rarely turns out to be the case, and usually the owner of the munchskin goes missing after a few weeks.

Nom nom nom, I'll double check when venturing through the bushes! While they might not be ideal as a pet per se, they do sound very useful to... do away with others who are in your way. ;)   Keep up the good work! :D

Or if I have a secret tunnel that the people I want to talk to know about, so we can sneak out under them while everyone else gets a nasty surprise.
