"THE BLOODY MESSENGER LOST MY FOOKIN' LETTER!"
"Excuse me, sir, I didn't, you gave me a blank piece of paper without an envelope."
— Disgruntled customer and a messenger

Necessary by Trade

Usually dressed in a red cloak that drapes over a single shoulder to be easily identified, messengers are commonly found wtihin any large town or city, available for work with payment before delivery. They have the responsibility of delivering anything and everything that they are given for delivery, though they usually limit themselves to what they can reasonably carry.   While you can find messengers who are completely independent, most are affiliated with a union, such as the Messenger Corps, as unions provide a reliable backing to their services in the event that someone has a complaint about them, as well as insurance in the event that they get injured on the job.

Trade by Necessity

Though some messengers try to run deliveries as fast as possible, as it would allow them to do more jobs in a short amount of time, there are some who take their time with jobs to ensure that they've done them correctly.   All messengers, independent or not, are expected to have an excellent memory for the streets that they provide their services for. Members of the Messenger Corps also review the knowledge of any and all messengers in a place to ensure that they aren't causing any issues for other messengers by not being able to properly service their area.   Complaints about all messengers are given to the Messenger Corps or the appropriate local union, regardless of if they are independent or not, and they will investigate the issue. Should it prove to be an issue of criminality, the local police will become involved as well.
