Arcane Effluvium
A cursed affliction
"Hey there boy! You better keep your 'ealing hands to yourself! None of us want to get that Effluvium and be fartin' bubbles again!"
Transmission
Arcane Effluvium is quite simple to avoid gaining, as it is caused by the overcasting of healing magics on oneself. However, the determination of overcasting is subjective to each individual. As well as this, the overcasting seems to only appear to be from the treatment of minor ailments, not major ailments. For instance, one could repeatedly cure a sore throat one might acquire, and that could trigger an Arcane Effluvium response.
Symptoms
Arcane Effluvium is not a condition that anyone wishes to have due to its inconvenient, yet humorous, nature. People afflicted with Arcane Effluvium will find themselves expelling unusual effects through any gaseous bodily release. This includes belching, flatulence, and hiccuping. Reported effects include:
- Feathers
- Bubbles
- Clouds
- Doves
- Rainbows
- Glitter
- Sand
- Steam
Discovery & History
Discovered during a particularly bad flu season by a Kubichan physician named Saew Cao, Arcane Effluvium is a rare occurrence in the Eight Lands, though many people do fear it for its unwanted consequences. A common misconception is that you merely have to be nearby a person who is overcasting healing magics on themselves, whilst instead you must be the person who is casting. Despite this, many people are wary of healing magics and if they do not wish upon themselves the minor curse of Arcane Effluvium, they will stay away from many healers until they require one.

In fairness, the doves sound painful, I can see why people are wary!
And the steam doesn't sound painful?
I may have pictured the cartoon anger venting kinda steam, but yes, now that you point it out, that does too.
