Session 12: Grave Danger
General Summary
After fighting the infected Roper, the troupe realizes they are directly beneath the graveyard. The tunnel from the basement of The Lodge is about a quarter mile to the Roper cavern and runs underneath both the River Asherton and the Temple of Kraa'thom. The walls of the cave were covered in networks of mycelium, and the ceiling was soil supported by said network. Three pockets of earth had dislodged and fallen to the floor, two of which contained human(oid) remains. The third grave was disturbed, as if something had left it.
Deciding that they were too spent to investigate directly, the Coast Guard returned to the surface, sealing the passage and the crack in the basement. They confiscated the infected cheese, talked to Henrietta and promised to return at 10 AM the next day to finish what they started in the caverns.
Leaf got a cool potion bandolier. SNTR-1 read Magical Maladies (click the link for specific info, but the jist is that there is a difference between nasties that behave mostly like normal diseases and plagues that are being intentionally manipulated by an active malevolent force; the former is solved in relatively traditional ways and the latter generally requires the source to be dealt with). He also began attempting to make an alchemy jug that refills with Moonmilk, but as yet was only successful in making mayo. RIP. Emelia went to the topside of the graveyard and found that there were only three graves. A block of the infected cheese was dropped into a vial of moonmilk, and the next day, the block of cheese remained at the bottom, but all the fungal growth had migrated to the top, away from the liquid.
At meeting the following morning attended by Gherd, Captain Caydense, Gern Tos, Eidella, and a bedraggled, pale and uncharacteristically un-hunk-like Captain Sultana let the party debrief the Captains. The Coast Guard tactfully did not mention the fact that Sultana looked like shit while expositing their new information. Caydense expressed worries that the lichen in the caverns are rapidly turning the stone into soil, which puts sections in danger of collapse. Eidella (and Gherd) came up with a taxonomy for the creatures you've been seeing:
Gutters have been exacerbating the spread and preventing the isolated of the infestation in the caves. Gherd wants you to deal with the Gutters and Gutpunch, with the knowledge that the next Gutter Party late tomorrow night, giving you two days and one night to prepare. He can put you in contact with a known Gutter named Eunice Mince.
Captain Sultana will traveling to Chelu-ka with The Five Faces to convince Khalog, a Githyanki swordsmith, to come to town and talk with you about the Astral Sea. He estimates his return at about a week and a half. Caydense gives you some cave maps.
After the meeting, the gang went back to the tunnel under the Lodge to deal with the graveyard situation. They collected the untouched bones and tracked the trail leading from the third pile of dirt until they found what seemed to be a corpse split in two: a horrifying crawling husk of skin and a bleeding mass of bloody bones. A fight ensued, and the heroes prevailed.
All in all, a pretty heavy session with minimal goofs! Kopala spent the time at the Temple of Kraa'thom helping Gern Tos isolate the Tower of Chelor.

Myceliophytes (Sporelings – little ones) Neophytes (Spore Bearers - the thing with the tentacles) Infected creatures – the corespawn crawlers and the roper Knox’s corpse seems to be mostly covered in myceliophytes with varying morphologies
