Undead

In the world of pondera, the undead are creatures that were previously dead, but were brought back to life via a connection to Ummortu. It is this connection to ummorto that brings life to the dead, as a connection to Vitium is what brings life to the living.
Undead hold onto certain traits as an overarching category. All undead can see in total darkness, thanks to their spiritual connection. They pronounce immunities to poison, sleep, paralysis, stuns, disease, or death like effects. Some even harbor these abilities to use on the living.
Mechanics

In regards to the undead, they all have a variety of mechanical benefits specific to them. Observe Undead Traits for any undead with Undead traits in their description. Incorporeal Undead Traits are slightly different, and should be observed for creatures with those traits listed in their description.

Skeletal Undead

In many cases, a skeleton can be formed from the remains of a corpse, should the corpse have a skeletal system to form the base strucute. Though there are not many ways to create a skeletal creature, there are certain special forms of skeletal beings created by unique means.

Skeleton

The most basic of skeletal undead, these are the animated bones of a long dead corpse. If created using a fresh corpse, the skeleton revives itself by removing the skin around it, or having it slough off of it.

Undead Spirits

Undead are not limited to physical forms. In some cases, the spirits of the dead who fail to pass on to the afterlife can become undead in their own right. These creatures are created in numerous ways based on the creature they become, or are created as.

Mad Spirit

Formed from the soul of a madman, these creatures babble to anything within sight, and drain the sanity from those who listen or even touch the creature.

Shadow

When trying to create an undead spirit, and the spirit is long gone, a shadow, a creature made of pure darkness from Ummortu will take the place of the spirit instead. This is the most commonly created undead spirit.
