Brugus Character in Pondera | World Anvil

Brugus

Brugus Aufor (a.k.a. The Huntsman)

The god of winter, and the hunt. Brugus is the direct brother of Calpricis Aufor. Where calpricis is the leader of the world during the summer, Brugus owns the world to command it during the winter. It is during this time that Brugus is distracted by the gods of animals in a great hunt, to protect the world from overhunting.

It is when Calpricis returns and warms up the earth, that Brugus is relegated back to a supervisory role, helping the The Arborole with divine missions and such as he does the rest of the year.

Tenets of Faith

"Be strong. Survive." These three words detail the entirity of brugus' teachings, and his followers take them to heart. Clerics are closer to survival experts and teachers, and call themselves the students of the bow in most cases. They will mostly be found improving their strength, to accomplish Brugus' divine goal.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Brugus is, by all definitions, a distant god. He answers few prayers, and his teachings all revolve around self reliance and survival of the fittest. His power is believed to come in equal amounts by monstrous races as it does from humanoid and the like. He harbors no ill will towards his subjects, but instead encourages their growth, and fighting at the peak of their prime.
This is because Brugus is one of the few truly immortal divines. No weapon can harm him, nor can he bleed if spear, nor sword nor antler pierces his hide. He instead craves the ultimate hunt, where his opponent is not only difficult to track, and kill, but also has the capability of ending Brugus' eternal life. This is why he encourages all followers to improve, because he promises that should one prove to be capable, they may take up his crown.
