An ancient civilization who were the first to unlock planar travel

History

During Session 06 & 07: Mall Madness and The Butcher , Trine the Modron explained that Originators were considered the first society to discover there were different planes of existence and ways to get to them. They developed portal magic. After some time, a few extremists wanted to unify all of reality with their portal magic. A group of Originator Mages tore a hole in existence and entered. What eventually returned from the space beyond could only be described as vague simulacra of the wizards, their minds and souls in perpetual agony as they sought to coexist with the structure of reality: Kaorti

For most of his career, Trine thought the few bits of Originator Technology I could find were simply meant to repell or protect against the Kaorti. Then during the war with the archtects he worked with a friend and we discovered that it was meant to protect them from something the Kaorti brought back. Enough of a concentration of originator tech can teleport beings away from danger from this other realm. It happened to them both, and they ended up in an Originator laboratory. He discovered that that is the only part of the Originator's plane that remains and it hurtles through space and time. A few cultures call it The Planebreaker .
Despite Originator Tech allowing users to teleport away from Architects, there's no evidence of Originator sites that have been touched by Architects, which one would think there would be if they were enough of a menace to a society to develop a technology so drastic to teleport someone away from a danger. And the fact that the only thing left of their plane is made entirely out of the tech is flying through space time, as if it's constantly fleeing from something.

During Session 09 - Let's Go Gambling , a cryptic note revealed that Stannach Rilmani supoort the players mission to understand more about Originators and Architects. Counter to the Keepers, it's implied the Rilmani believe it's imperitive to the balance of the multiverse that the players continue their quest.

Trine the Expert

Trine the Modron is one of the few experts on Originator Technology and history. Hundreds of years old, he discovered the connection between the Originators and Architects, though he's still searching for answers as to why they're connected.

Neutrals/Bystanders

Aoskar, The God of Portals
It is said that Aoskar, the God of Portals and Keeper of Gateways, rose to godhood and was one of the last of the Originators. Idris Telemmier was sick as a baby and was blessed by Aoskar, granting him portal abilities. It's believed this was the first creation of Axani Wildwalkers .

Adversaries

The Keepers

Keepers strive to get rid of all evidence of Originators in order to preserve the multiversal balance. During Session 02 - The Laboratory they attacked the players while they were trying to destroy evidence that someone purposefully gave them Originator Technology as their wedding invites.
