During his life, he lost one of his eyes in a sparring match. Being an expert in enchanting magic and other occult practices, he fashioned himself a special pair of glasses, with part of the spectacles being fitted inside his eyesocket.

Personal history
Long before he turned himself into a lich, he ruled part of the Forest of Dungol as a king. During his reign, he expanded his domain in several wars against the Dwarven Clans of the Blubbermoutains and the Hobbits of the Verdant Plains. Enslaving most of their people and using them in horrible necromatic experiments.
The first time he was defeated was by a group of adventurers who where able to defeat him in combat, by stabbing him in his eye. Zinfilias, already completed his rituals to make sure he would turn into a lich after he was killed, gladly accepted his defeat. In his Lich form, Zinfilias' power only increased and his grip on the countries grew even greater. He tasked his slaves with constructing a castle, on a newly created island off the coast of Dungol Forest. This castle would also eventualy be his own tomb. A new group of heroes rose to the occasion and went on to defeat him again and trapped his essence in a philactery and sealing it away in his castle.
Reign
During his normal life he was the king of a small part of the Dungol Forest. He waged several wars against his neighbours, the dwarves and hobbits. And in turn, ruled most of their lands and the rest of the forest as well.
