Synthetic

Quaditium is a state of hydrogen not found in nature with a half-life less than zeptosecond (10-21 second). As technologies for stabilizing molecules improved, the laboratory half-life of radioactive molecules could be drastically extended, in the case of quaditium to around 42 months. These conditions could previously only be maintained in well-equipped labs, but recently mobile stabilizing units have been developed and are used to move these nuclides to reactors for further experiments.

Potential

Similar to tritium, quaditium can be utilized as a "booster" for fission nuclear weapons to increase the explosive yield. Quaditium can also act as a starter for fusion reactors or more commonly for starting dark matter engines. Quaditium on its own also has unique properties, especially when introduced to different environments quickly. When rapidly heated, quaditium reduces to single protons, ejecting its electron layers and fellow protons, which become highly reactive as they cool.

Highly Regulated

Due to both its difficulty in manufacturing and in its potential destructive capabilities, quaditium is highly regulated in most systems. Every lab capable of producing the nuclide is monitored by the Intersystem Nuclear Watch (INW) who reports on the latest expirements and developments as well as potential misuses of all nuclear materials. This level of monitoring has made the value of quaditium extremely high, especially to illicit organizations who's shadowy leaders would pay exhorbitantly to brag that they own some. Some extremist organizations seek quaditium for more malicious intents.
