Minotyrs (mee-no-teers or mee-no-taurs)
The exact origins of why the Minotyrs were created are unknown. However one thing is clear, they are the result of fallen Animalians of the Bovidae Class being taken pity on or used by a deity. The thread of the Animalian King within their DNA was removed, leaving them in a half-human half-animal state of their making.
Much less focused on utilising the quadrupedal form like in the case of making the Centyrs, the Minotyrs were made to be vicious protectors of spaces such as dungeons which would come to be known as mazes. And for a time, they were so. But their minds still remained and steadily they gained independence enough to free their offspring from inheriting their duty and go out to become their own people.
Nowadays Minotyrs are of the solitary kind, gruff and drawn to the task of utilising their strength in the same way someone with a good voice would become a singer. However, deep down it's easy to see their yearning for a greater purpose, a proper place to fit in.
Animalians: Unlike the Centyrs, Animalians look at Minotyrs as a failure to pity. The Bovidae families were once prominent in protecting the great city Sheth'Baru's walls, now the stones crumble and the Class is a rarity among their numbers.
Humans: Humans were one of the many curious lots they were instinctively guarding against, for short lives and ambition doesn't always think before it takes. Still, they harbour no hatred at first glance.
Appearance
- Minotyrs are a locked form of a human and bovine mix. As such they are barrel-chested humanoids with wide rounded shoulders, muscled arms and occasionally hooves legs.
- Their heads are almost entirely bovine complete with curved horns.
- Many have tufted tails, thick fur in patches and males grow beard-like fur along their chins and down their necks.
Height & Weight: Minotyrs typically average 6 feet / 2 meters in height. Average around 300lbs / 104kgs
Features
Stubborn Stance
Originating from the embodiment of sturdiness, the Bovidae Animalians, Minotyrs have this feature pushed magically to extremes. It is well known that should a Minotyr plant their feet, you are going to be pressed to push them let alone move them.
Combined with their duty charged upon creation to be essentially guard dogs, Minotyrs make for an intimidating figure as they stand and huff with blazing eyes and clenched fists.
Mind for Mazes
In accordance with their conversion from Animalian to a new purpose, Minotyrs are well known for their duty guarding locations, over time they became known for underground dungeons to the point where a dungeon with a Minotyr are known as mazes as they began to come hand in hand. As such, they have a natural instinct for navigating mazes and even magical ones are unable to disorientate a Minotyr once they've stepped inside.
