Session 18: Strange Daze Report in Pathfinder Pirates | World Anvil

Session 18: Strange Daze

General Summary

The ship goes down in a mass of explosions and flames. With that keeping the people and guards distracted, me and Amelia head down into the waters to collect the sails and anything of interest. The sails are unfortunately caught and tangled around all the debris, but it doesn’t take much to get a few untangled and brought to the surface. Amelia has different plans though and once she spots a shiny, metal chest sinking to the bottom of the sea; she can’t help but trail after it to steal its contents. I fully expect somebody to be waiting ashore to help me with the sails, but in this moment I start to realize that I’ve come to expect too much of my fellow crew.     Nobody’s here and now there’s guards descending down on me to interrogate me over what just happened. Thankfully, TT swoops in to pretend she’s just some kid helping a poor, blind veteran from the water and I throw out the story that I was simply out fishing when the Fire Nation attacked- I mean, when everything went wrong. The guards collect the sails and us, escorting us to their offices to take statements. So far, our plan hasn’t failed us and I’m sure we can all talk our way out of this and get the sails back. But the minute the door to the office swings closed, TT panics as she thinks we’re gonna be hauled off to prison and rather than take a deep breath and think things over, she yells out that “snitches get stitches” before stabbing one of the guards.     It doesn’t work in her favor though as everyone else turns on her and the target of her surprise aggression is still breathing, unfortunately. So what does she do? Trips over herself as she tries to strike yet another guard, hits the floor, and starts crying to try and make them think she’s little more than a stupid kid acting out. And the guards buy it! They shoo me outside with another guard to keep an eye on me and take my statement about the ship while TT screams at the others to go find her dad, Owkbanok. With her description given, a few guards scatter outside to start yelling for him and I decide to take my chances and flirt with my guard. Perfect night for an explosive romance, right??     It’s not to be though as they’re married and the story of my fake family doesn’t appeal to them at all. So with Owkbanok reaching this place in a state of confusion, he heads in and pays off TT’s fine before throwing her over his shoulder and making his way back to the ship. I ask the guard outside if I can take the sails to craft some bomb-ass tents for my alleged children and they hand them over without much of an issue. Mission complete and we all head back to the ship…but wait. Where’s Amelia? Down in the waters still and struggling to unlock the chest. Her next attempt gets her grappled by guards who are still down there, but she simply goes incorporeal before blasting them with magic. Unfortunately for her, this guard has a magic weapon and manages to stab her ass even in that form and it’s then she realizes her treasure hunt is pointless.     She deems the chest full of gems and gold as a lost cause and makes it back to the ship and just in time too as I’m regaling everyone with the tale of TT’s antics in town today. She’s not thrilled about and tries to convince everyone that she totally took on 11 guys on her own, but everyone knows by now not to believe her tall tales. With the sails handed over to Julius for mending and drying, we hoist those colors high the next day and finally set sail for Valimar proper. It’s a four day journey there and for the most part, those days are uneventful. Aside from me and Owk’s teasing finally getting to Stabby, which leads to both of us getting platefuls of breakfast to our smug faces one morning and Amelia finally getting her revenge on me as I technically started the Pukehead Riot.     A bottle of fine alcohol and a lack of judgment gets the better of me and somehow I allow myself to be tied up and shackled to the bed by her. Expecting a good time, I’m none the wiser to what she’s about to pull until she tells me to go fuck myself and walks out. Rude, but entirely deserved on my part and I’m left to quietly contemplate my life while Cayde fetches the key she tossed aside. We dock the ship in a small port town on the continent as I go over the flesh map once more with everyone to figure out where exactly the treasure is. It’s a two week journey from where we are, so we decide to stay in town for awhile to do some shopping and trading. While Amelia tries to haggle with a stubborn tailor, TT takes me to meet one of her black market connections to pawn off some shit and Oscar, her garbage dwelling friend, tops the transaction off with four vials of strange fluids.     A drug of some kind, though I’m not entirely sure what, so when we all reconvene in an alley outside a bar, TT passes the vials around and we fucking party. By party, I mean we all get an increased sense of wisdom and awareness for the reality around us and go through a pleasant euphoria, despite some of us feeling sick to our stomachs. But poor Amelia gets it the worst as she loses the ability to speak, read, or write; but none of us in our high can figure out why. Obviously she’s dying and the only way to cure this is with more drugs, right? Oscar convinces us it’s a good idea, so Owkbanok buys four more vials and hands them around so we can be cured. But I pocket mine to quickly jot down the meaning of the universe in my journal; "Correctional ballet". That’s what will truly save us, I say as Amelia begins puking her guts out on the sidewalk and eventually stumbles back to the ship.     Julius is less than pleased with her right now. In fact, he’s pissed. He’s tired of these goddamn kids with their goddamn parties and fucking garbage drugs. He cures her addiction and the high, but unfortunately for her, her inability to speak is going to last 3 whole days. The rest of us finally notice she’s gone and with Oscar handing us a treasure map for free, we use it to find her and weirdly enough, it leads us back to the ship. That sets TT off in a panic as there’s people out there totally after our treasure right at this moment and she yells for me to move the ship before it’s too late. So I do so, also fearing for our hoard of goods, and proceed to crash the ship right into the docks. Perfect hiding place!     The captain’s understandably pissed off now too and chastises us for our drug use. He takes me by the arm and Owk latches onto me so we’re both led down to the brig. Julius stops by to scold us before curing us and it’s at that moment that I realize I fucked up big time. He leaves to find TT, but she’s invisible and currently hiding to escape his wrath. She asks me to take the fall for her and while I really don’t want to, I unfortunately view her as a little sister which means that I c a r e about her. So I reluctantly do so, having to cough up 2000 gold to repair our ship; but with that coin, the captain forgives me for my mistakes completely.     I think it’s safe to say that this may be the last time any of us take any drugs that literally came out of a dumpster.
