Session 11: This Place About to Blow

General Summary

A little over two weeks on our Jurassic Park adventure and the sweltering heat threatens to take some of us out. In an effort to combat the heat, we hit the beach for a little fanservice, I mean, break. We’re taking a break, that’s all. Amelia and TT head into the water and when a very big shadow forms under the water, TT proves that even with the lowest intelligence of the group, she is chock full of wise decisions as she quickly nopes the fuck out of there. Amelia, on the other hand, continues to swim along and when a massive dinosaur reveals itself, it immediately goes after her. It’s a very bad day for her as she’s pulled under the waves and once she breaks the surface, the dinosaur catches her in its maws and we all watch in horror as this might be the last time we see her. But TT swings off the ship on her grappling hook and plunges her dagger into its head, slowly making her way to its nose and beats it in the face with the pommel of hear sword until the dinosaur sneezes, promptly dropping Amelia back into the water and blowing TT off onto the beach, now covered in sand and snot.     Cayde pulls Amelia from the water and seeing how beat up she is, I grab her to get her back to camp while she angrily sends magic missiles the creature’s way. Eventually it decides we’re not worth the time and leaves. With our day already a mess, we decide we still need a break and spend the day just chilling and hanging out around camp. Waypoint team finds evidence of buried treasure on the island, so the next day we head out in search of it. It’s hot, storming, and there’s volcanic ash in the sky so everybody’s worried that we made a terrible mistake coming here because obviously the volcano’s gonna blow and this island of Hell is gonna become our final resting place. Luckily, being a decent survivalist, I can reassure them that we’re going to be fine and we go collect our treasure in a hurry to avoid the other pirates who are chilling on this island too.   Day 20, exploration team is almost taken out by a dinosaur, but we’re smart and know we can’t handle it on our own and make a quick retreat. Day 21 is chock full of interesting discussion, such as the origins of sorcerers, in which we determine that it’s always because somebody fucked something magical and strange. It’s also full of uncomfortable backstory talk where we realize we’re all the Parental Issues Squad and then Amelia and Owkbanok share their experiences with slavery for a brief moment before they realize they’re on two ends of the spectrum. Cuz while Owkbanok apparently had an okay time being a slave, TT certainly did not and they end that discussion before it turns into the Depression Olympics. Day 23 rolls around and finally we have the means to find our original target. We remind each other not to destroy the body as we need in as intact as possible in order to collect our coin from Eustace, but beyond that, we have no plan. The best plans sometimes come to you in moments of panic though because as we discuss what to do right outside of the dinosaur’s lair, it unsurprisingly detects our presence and as it charges right for us, we all decide to lure it to the beach so we get the advantage.     We run through the jungle and me and Cayde are both attacked, but manage to keep on our feet as the dinosaur is now where we want it. Unfortunately, our plan to get the upperhand from this falls through as most of us are getting our shit wrecked by it. Notably Amelia and Owkbanok. Poor Amelia can’t catch a break as she tries to hide and even despite blinding the dino, it still sniffs her out and attempts to bite a nice chunk out of her. And by that I mean it would’ve killed her, but with quick thinking, she dumps a bottle of perfume on the tree and runs, and it distracts the dinosaur temporarily. But trees do not taste like people and now this thing’s pissed. TT swings out of the jungle to use her grappling hook to latch onto the dino, but that’s all she manages to do for a long while. Cayde runs back to my side in terror because he’s still a young baby who doesn’t understand the world, but not wanting to encourage cowardice, I order him back to the battlefield to defend Owkbanok.     Owkbanok, who in a short minute, ends up in the dino’s mouth and while I do my best to rain arrows on this bitch and get him out; it’s to no avail. We all watch as he’s vored by a dinosaur (open the door, get on the floor, everybody avoid being vored by dinosaurs) and we all think he’s dead. Still, a job’s a job and we need this dinosaur and I call Cayde back to my side so he doesn’t get eaten either. Finally, TT manages to hit this thing and gets the killing blow, thus ending another bad day in our lives. Owkbanok cuts his way out of its throat and celebrations over him not dying are cut short because he’s in no mood to deal with anyone or anything now. We fetch the captain and leave the crew to figure out how to pack, ship, and preserve this fucking thing since we did the work in killing it. They work through the night, Amelia and TT get a little drunk cuz hey, everybody almost died, and me and Owkbanok finally pound it out after this very stressful day.     Come the next day, we decide we’ve had enough thrills at Jurassic Park and leave. Once we arrive back in Jacksonville, Amelia reanimates the dinosaur so we can easily transport it to Calidon. Eustace gets his beautiful dinosaur specimen, we get our coin, and some of us get to walk away from this experience with a hearty dose of trauma.
