At the end of
Session 44: Defrosting the Machine, the party requested to see what
Sigmand knew about the various things the party has asked from
Mia's Library Research and
Wisdom of the Elders of Hearthstone. Below are the things Sigmand had a response for - questions that have been covered in the session or that he didn't have anything to contribute to have been omitted.
Nogos mentioned Sunhaven as being an impressive work of magical craftsmanship, which is not the sort of praise he threw around lightly. The Professor also opined that
Pelor was wise to encourage that sort of ingenuity in his followers.
According to Nogos, Sigmand's gold arm was an adaptation of some of the magic the folks in Sunhaven had worked out, but of course the Professor also said he'd "made some improvements." Sigmand thinks there may have been some sort of arrangement worked out to allow the use of this magic without being an actual worshipper of Pelor, but he's not aware of the details.
Professor Nogos said the
Llyrian Sect did solid research but often failed to recognize the potential of what they discovered. Sigmand got the impression that the Professor respected their work and had traded some knowledge with them, especially around warforged construction, but that the Llyrians tended to get stuck "doing things the old-fashioned way."
Holy and/or lost relics of Pelor
Sigmand isn't very well-educated when it comes to the
Church of Pelor - the Professor didn't seem especially fussed around the details of worship for the deities. However,
Nogos was a collector of rare bits of magic, and had contacts for locating such things. A few such items Nogos had came from one of
Pelor's faithful who was a specialist in finding the lost. The Professor said their calling in
Primordial was an "
Aurorae Scintilla" (which he helpfully translates to
Common as "Spark of the Golden Dawn").
Wisdom of the Elders of Hearthstone
Creatures being altered (in the way of the boarochs or other similar creatures)
Sigmand said Nogos complained about trying to make his own creatures of flesh - they were unpredictable in a way he did not care for. His interest lay more in machines and constructs, obviously, though it seems that wasn't so much
easier as it was less
messy.
