Grimoria

Grimoria is a strange continent from the outlands. Grimoria is home to bizarre landscapes like forests of crystal trees, shining mountains of iron that attract storms and lightning, and forests of tree sized flowers. Grimoria is also dominated by the mighty Hydrens, mighty dragonlike creatures that have unique control over elemental powers.

Regions of Grimoria

Crystalline Forest

The Crystalline Forest is a large forest in the far western edge of Grimoria. The Crystalline Forest is like a normal conifer forest, except large amounts of the forest are composed of foliage made out of glowing pink/purple crystal structures. This forest is a large region, with the central regions being a somewhat flat area, and the coasts being lined by mountains. Due to the latent power of the crystals, the creatures of the Crystalline Forest tend to have stronger elemental abilities than in most other parts of Grimoria.   The native people of the Crystalline Forest are very adept with magic and are famed for their beautiful art made with the crystals, which they trade all across Panthea.

Gora Mountains

The Gora Mountains are a large mountain range on the western edge of Grimoria. These mountains are tall, cold, and rocky. The Gora Mountains are a massive series of towering snowy mountains, below them, lies thinly forested valleys and the occasional large lake, but a large portion of the Gora Mountains are huge areas of land well above the tree line.   Despite being cold, rocky, and largely barren and snowy, the Gora Mountains are home to a mighty empire. This empire crafts their many fortresses and cities out of huge cold stones. This civilization is very defensive, after conquering a large portion of the western Gora Mountains, they created many large walls, gates, and fortresses in order to fight off invaders.   The Gora Mountains harbour a hardy array of species. They are adapted to the cold with thick fur, they among the rocky cliffs with specialized claws and feet, and they can thrive in harsh conditions in ways that few others can. The Gora Mountains is also the nesting place of some of the most massive flying Hydrens in all of Grimoria. They will fly down to neighbouring regions to hunt, and return to their nests high in the mountains, safe from most predators.

Ostrov

Ostrov is a cold mountainous island northwest of Grimoria. Ostrov is covered in immense mountainous glowing glaciers, plains of solid ice, deep snow, gleaming northern lights, and howling wind. Ostrov is home to many species adapted to living in the cold. Many mountains, plains, and hills in Ostrov are made entirely out of glowing blue ice. A lot of this ice is riddled with tunnels and chambers carved out by numerous animals over the millions of years they've lived there, and some tunnels lead so deep that they even lead to the huge hollows between the ice and the frozen earth beneath.   The creatures of Ostrov are amazingly adapted to the barren icy conditions of their home island. There are species that have adapted ice crystals into their anatomy, species that use specialized feet to skate down the cliffs of ice to chase prey, numerous flying monsters, and massive amounts of burrowing creatures such as ice worms.

Stonespire Steppe

The Stonespire Steppe is a region in northwest Grimoria. The Stonespire Steppe is a cold windy grassland, occasionally broken up by sheer cliffs, however, this is not what makes the region unique. The Stonespire Steppe is famed for its thousands of massive stone spires jutting out of the earth. At the edges of the Stonepspire Steppe, there are also immense walls of megalithic stone, and beyond these walls, there are no stone spires, and it is likely that the stone spires and the wall are all that remains of a once mighty civilization.   The Stonespire Steppe, because of it's wind open tracts of grass, is home to many large herbivores. These herbivores have thick fur to protect against the cold and the wind, and many of them possess large horns. For predators, there are standard monsters that attack with claws, teeth, and various powers, but there is also one species that take a widely different approach. There is a species that disguises itself as the massive stones that dot the landscape, and it ambushes its prey from hiding. The fact that these creatures evolved to mimic the stones means that the stones had to have existed for long enough for a species to be able to fully evolve an adaptation like that, and since they were probably made by human designers, they could be the oldest human relics on earth.

Talbas

Talbas is a lush coastal region in the southwest of Grimoria. Talbas is a land of steep cliffs, wide caves, heavy rainfall, and deep, ancient forests. Talbas is often cloudy and very rainy, and this heavy rainfall has allowed a great amount of plant life to live there. Talbas is a very steep and mountainous place. It is a vast range of vertical rocky cliffs covered in moss and hanging vines, numerous waterfalls running down these ancient cliffs, foggy coastal islands jutting out of the dark sea like spears of stone, and ancient mountains towering even above the low hanging clouds that blanket the sky. The complex network of natural level areas between the cliffs and the many pathways that lead up and down them creates a complex maze of beauty and mystery, with each step of the maze revealing another natural wonder.   Most of the creatures of Talbas are similar to life found on the rest of Grimoria, however there are a group of creatures that are massive, ancient, and powerful, they are mighty creatures that control the elements like no others. The source of their power is not well understood but it is obvious that it exists. These ancient creatures are often massive, covered in forest growth such as moss or mushrooms.

Dolinia

Dolinia is a vast windy region on central/western Grimoria. Dolinia is a massive open windswept plain, and the extremely strong winds have carved channels into the earth, as well as shaped the hills into unique windswept shapes. The few short trees of Dolinia are also very short and grow nearly horizontally is a way of surviving the mighty winds of their home. The winds of Dolinia are so strong that all the creatures there are extremely low down and heavy, or they are able to fly indefinitely upon the strong winds. The flying animals of Dolinia are able to grow far larger than in other regions, as they can maintain airborn far easier due to the speed of the winds they ride.

Swamp of Ghosts

The swamp of ghosts is a vast complex of marshlands, muddy swamps, bogs, rivers, and mangroves. Many areas of this swamp are covered by a perpetual dark fog that limits visibility and darkens the entire region. Within the dense fog, the whispy outlines of ghostly figures can be seen, and many have seen dozens of these figures at once. The swamp of ghosts is a very dangerous place. Within its murky waters are man-eating fish, massive alligators, and huge aquatic hydrens. There are also tonitruan in the volcanic and rocky inland regions. Another danger in the swamp of ghosts is the diseases, which can easily be spread by the swarms of leeches and mosquitoes that roam the swamps. In the murky waters and dense fog of the swamp of ghosts are ancient ruins jutting out of the swamps, the occasional mangrove forest, or forest of strange swamp trees, there are giant mushrooms, some areas have many steep rocks jutting out of the muddy water, and sometimes the occasional massive swamp tree towering out of the murkiness below. There are actually large areas of solid land deep in the swamp of ghosts, and these solid areas are made up of volcanic stone spewed out from the many active volcanos there. This inland area is hilly, and some regions are forested, and others are open landscapes of volcanic stone and grass. Occasionally rivers of lava flow out of volcanoes and harden in the swamp, slowly growing the rocky region each time. While there are ghosts in the foggy areas of the swamp, ghosts of flame can also appear around lava and fire.

Skagun Peninsula

The Skagun Peninsula is a cold peninsula off the northwest of Grimoria. It is a cold snowy place, it's tall mountains, towering conifer forests, and vast glaciers create a treacherous landscape that only the hardiest can survive. The skagun peninsula is a frozen landscape, and it's patrolled by hordes of bloodthirsty hydrens that make life there even more difficult.   The Skagun Peninsula is the home of many cold adapted creatures. These can be furry white hydrens that hunt in massive packs like wolves, or large blubbery river dwellers that can smash through the ice with their armoured heads. A great variety of great and powerful life thrives in the Skagun Peninsula despite how cold it is.

Forest of Giants

The forest of giants is a large tropical rainforest in Grimoria. The forest of giants is distinct because of the many colossal trees that dominate the landscape. These trees rest on the peaks of tropical mountains, their massive roots running all the way down to the bases of these mountains, and their tallest branches rise hundreds of meters above the forest floor. These trees resemble immense kapok trees, but with more numerous and twisted roots. A strange event sometimes happens involving these trees, where a few legendary creatures will be drawn to the trees when they're dying, and when they die they fertilizing the giant trees, which in turn supports the entire forest of giants.   Within the Forest of Giants lives greater ourins, lesser ourins, skogars, kulaks, and hydrotheriums on the coasts.   The wildlife of the Forest of Giants is extremely diverse, it can range from the most massive and powerful creatures, to the smallest and most nible. There are a lot of flying hydrens that live high in giant trees, and these flying creatures are the dominant predators of the Forest of Giants. There are also many powerful predators roaming the lower jungles in search of prey, and this prey can be fast and nimble, or armoured and bulky.

Dustridge Mountains

The Dustridge Mountains are a mountainous region in Grimoria. This region is hot, dry, dusty, and rocky. The Dustridge Mountains are sandy in some regions, other regions are lightly forested, and other regions have only sparse grass and bushes. The people of the Dustridge Mountains are famous warriors who will constantly raid neighbouring regions, and the many tribes of the Dustridge Mountains will fight, ally with each other, and sometimes merge into larger tribes, and sometimes large tribes will split into smaller tribes.   Like all of Grimoria, the Dustridge Mountains are home to many savage and powerful species. A lot of the creatures are able to fly or are good at climbing rocks, this is needed in the mountainous landscape of the Dustridge Mountains. Many of the herbivores are able to survive on what little water there is to find in the Dustridge Mountains, and they are mostly well armoured against falling boulders and fierce predators.

Golden Forest

The Golden Forest is a forested cliffy peninsula on the north coast of Grimoria. The Golden Peninsula is windy, cliffy, mountainous, and battered by harsh waves. The Golden Forest is named that because it's trees instead of having green leaves, have golden leaves all year round. This golden forest's natives are skilled carpenters, farmers, and shipbuilders, and they are generally very peaceful and friendly, despite living in a harsh land of wind and brutal monsters.   The Golden Forest's wildlife, like the rest of Grimoria is brutal and powerful, they endure strong winds and rain and climb the steep cliffs of the golden forest in search of food. Huge flocks of flying monsters battle against the hardy horned beasts that graze on the region's golden grass, and even stronger sea monsters stalk the beaches.

Utubi

Utubi is a beautiful tropical region on the north coast of Grimoria. Utubi is covered in steep cliffed hills, deep jungles, and beautiful coastlines. The shores of Utubi are covered in steep cliffed hills and mountains, and the clear waters are full of coral reefs.   Utubi is a beautiful land of tropical wonders, and its creatures reflect that. There are colourful flying creatures, many creatures are able to walk on land and swim in the sea, and a large portion of Utuibi's ecosystem revolves around the many coral reefs off the coast.

Great Sand Sea

The great sand sea is a massive desert region in the center/eastern part of Grimoria. In the northeast of the region, there is a solid rocky area with sparse plant life, and in the northeast, there is a massive volcanic valley, thousands of meters deep that forms an impassable barrier between the great sand sea and the floral highlands. While both of these places are notable in their own right, there is a larger part of the great sand sea which is by far more bizarre and unique. This is the great sand sea. The great sand sea is an immense ocean of liquified sand, which is hundreds of meters deep. This sand acts as if it were a fluid, and it is so much like liquid that if one were to stand in it, they'd sink. The sands of the great sand sea are able to support great ships and creatures that swim through the sand like how fish swim through the ocean. Within the middle of the great sand sea is a single island, which serves as an important hub for sand sailors and the many species that swim the great sand sea.   Beneath the sands of the great sand sea is a complex network of tunnels. These tunnels are formed of long tubes of swirling winds. Where and how the wind tunnels begin is unknown, but when they end they create huge spouts of wind and sand. These spouts can appear at random and are very dangerous to anyone sailing the great sand sea. The mysterious wind tunnels are likely the reason that the great sand sea's sands are able to remain liquid-like, but the exact mechanics of it are unknown.   The wildlife of the great sand sea is extremely unique. Much of the wildlife of the great sand sea is able to swim through the sands like fish swim through water, and a whole ecosystem has formed withing the great sand sea. There are sand fish, sand seals that rest of the shores of the sand sea, and immense sand whales that swim through the great sand sea.   The Native people of the great sand sea live unique lives compared to almost all other peoples on Panthea. They ride great ships that sail through the sand, and they go on daring hunts where they battle against sand whales and use their body parts to construct new ships, houses, clothes, and for food.

Redlands

The Redlands is a rocky desert region in Grimoria. It is a desert-like the great sand sea to the west, but instead of a sea of liquid sand, it's rocky and solid, covered in orange/red sand and rocks. The northern half of the Redlands is made up of a sandy red desert, but this desert is dotted by numerous massive stones towering above the landscape. The southern half is a rocky network of mountains, crags, and cliffs. Much of this area is also home to small woodlands and grassy areas. There is also one secluded corner of the Redlands that is a large lake, which supports a lush forest unlike any other in the Redlands.   The native species of the Redlands are able to survive scorching heat, little water, and even less food. Large amounts of flying creatures use the large stones in northern Redlands as roosting areas.

Floral Highlands

The Floral Highlands is a beautiful and unique region in eastern Grimoria. The Floral Highlands are isolated, surrounded by valleys, cliffs, and mountains, but within is one of the most beautiful landscapes in all of Grimoria. The Floral Highlands, instead of having large plants such as trees and bushes, has immense flowers instead. These flowers form breathtaking multicoloured canopies that are seen nowhere else in the known world. While there are forests of flowers, there are also vast open fields, with the occasional massive flower looming over it like a tower.   This ecosystem is supported by volcanic ash from the west that fertilizes its soil, and a unique array of massive pollinator species that make the great size of the flowers possible. These pollinators consist of massive bee-like insects, eagle sized hummingbirds, and incredible hydrens that are capable of pollination.

Lifespring Rainforest

The Lifespring Rainforest is a lush tropical rainforest in the eastern part of Grimoria. The Lifespring Rainforest is a beautiful place. It's home to gleaming bright waters, above which are towering cliffs of gleaming marble which are covered in flowering vines and bushes. The Lifespring Rainforest is a lush environment, while the plants of the lifespring rainforest are smaller than in some other rainforests, many of these plants have large flowers on them. The Lifespring Rainforest got its name from the many lakes, streams, and springs that litter the landscape. These waters are clear, warm, and almost all water in the Lifespring Rainforest is fresh and drinkable.   The Lifespring Rainforest is teeming with great varieties of life, both big and small, brutish and cunning. These creatures tend to have very long lifespans due to the lifegiving waters of the region, and a lot of the species there are able to grow to large sizes due to their increased lifespans. There are also notably large concentrations of flying hydrens on top of the great white cliffs that fill the region.

Fulguron

Fulguron is a strange region in eastern Grimoria. Fulguron is a land of endless thunder, lightning, and rain. The weather of Fulguron plays a key role in the entire ecosystem. In Fulguron there are huge naturally formed spires of iron that attract massive amounts of lightning and are possibly the reason Fulguron is always storming. Within Fulguron there are also unique trees that instead of getting their energy from sunlight through photosynthesis, get their energy by attracting lightning bolts with their tall iron-filled tips. These lightning trees lack leaves and have power coursing throughout their wood, bark, roots, and their unique fruit, which is packed with powerful electric energy, so much in fact that they can be used as batteries. There are some creatures that are able to consume these fruits and gain their immense electric power too. These species that eat the fruit are able to control electricity to a far greater extent than any other hydrens, and they can use their lightning for fending off predators, or for hunting their prey.   The native people of Fulguron, like the animals, use the lightning as the center of their culture. They have been able to harness the power of the lightning tree's fruit to power their crude electric machinery, and they are also able to create powerful tools and weapons that can use the power of lightning. These lightning weapons are traded off far and wide, and the people of Fulguron are seen as magical by many outsiders.

Yalden

Yalden is a wide plains region in eastern Grimoria. Yalden is bright, sunny, and grassy. It has occasional twisting trees coiling out of the grass, and there are many hilly and even mountainous regions in Yalden. As a wide-open grassland, Yalden is home to numerous massive grazing herbivores, and many huge predators too. Yalden's grass regrows very fast and is nutritious, and this grass is able to support arguably the largest concentration of large animals in all of Grimoria.

Navrek

Navrek is a region in northeastern Grimoria. The entire region of Navrek is formed on top of a series of colossal rock plates, and the entire ground beneath Navrek is mostly solid grey stone. This stone, over countless millennia much of these rock plates have been hollowed out, creating truly massive cave systems. The tall mountains of Navrek also create huge numbers of rivers from glacial meltwater, and these rivers have gradually carved out huge valleys in the stony earth. Despite being mostly a single mass of hard stone, Navrek does have enough soil to support a decent amount of plant life.   The wildlife of Navrek is plentiful despite how desolate much of Navrek is. There are armoured herbivores and omnivores, powerful carnivores, but the most unique part of Navrek's ecosystem is in its immense caves. Within the caves live massive serpents that devour anything that ventures too close to their cave, there are giant insects everywhere, and many flying creatures roost in these caves. These caves also directly connect to the underworld.

The Crimson Forest

The Crimson Forest is a region in the extreme eastern edge of Grimoria. The Crimson Forest is a temperate forest, but much of the plantlife is red instead of green. The Crimson Forest harbours life similar to other forested regions of Grimoria, although the creatures of the Crimson Forest are not affected by power increasing crystals like in the Crystalline Forest, and they grow to fair sizes from the bountiful foliage.
