Church of Dusk and Dawn
The Church of Dusk & Dawn is the official faith of the the Eternal Sovereignty of the Luminescent Void. We teach that the Long Night awaits us all, and that to truly live one must embrace death as an inevitability. Without the sun there can be no shadow, and the Shadow Avatar of the Sun will soon reveal Himself. Until He appears, we welcome all faiths of darkness into the Church, and tolerate all others that do not oppose our Tenets.
Structure
The Chosen
As the Chosen serve the Sovereign, they hold a position of utmost authority within His Church. Their words are the words of Nihilus. To be Chosen, Nihilus selects a disciple at will. High Priest/Priestesses
Each High Priest is in charge of a single temple. The High Priestess of The Dusk Chapel in the Holy City is in charge of all others, though their title remains unchanged. High Priests serve a second level of officers under the Chosen, and are responsible for managing the day-to-day affairs of the Church, including evangelism, teaching, rituals, preaching, and funerary services. High Priests are chosen by a Council of High Priests held by the Arch-Priest once a year. Priest
Priests do not have to be clerics per se, they must simply be willing to perform the rites of the faith, enforce the Tenets, and share the Scriptures. Often they are called upon to assist the High Priest of their local temple. Priests are initiated by a High Priest from among acolytes. The Death Watch
The Death Watch is more an arm of the government than the Church, but it is the Church to whom they return their findings. See the Constitution of the Sovereignty for more information. Acolytes
Acolytes serve priests as they fulfill their duties. In some temples they are the first faces seen by the faithful, in others they perform behind the scenes. Much of the grunt work is performed by them. Each Priest selects a few of the faithful to become acolytes every new moon. Adherents
The faithful are those members who adhere to the Tenets of the Church but do not hold any formal role within its ranks. Anyone may become an adherent so long as they fulfill the requirements for membership. Simply present yourself to a Priest of Dusk & Dawn and pay your first month’s dues (100gp).
