The Tablet of Yaltur
"What's in there? Oh, you don't need to worry about that my boy, only the High Priest goes in there. That's where the Tablet of Yaltur is kept. Keep your voice down! Yes, it sounds impressive, but it's just a slab of wax with a stone frame. I don't care what stories you've heard, its only spoken twice, and probably won't do so again."In the middle of Belyos is the largest temple in The Empire of Belyos. It is dedicated to Yaltur, the leader of the Inheritors and primary architect of the war against the Usurpers. Within this temple is the only official way in which Yaltur communicates with his followers, the Tablet of Yaltur. Whilst it once held prime prominence, the temple has grown and changed since it was first placed, and now it has its own room, accessed only by the High Priest and chosen acolytes. It is a tall, rectangular frame, made of some unknown stone, with an inscription around the rim that states "From this place comes the words of your god. Heed them and be ever thankful. This is the promise of Yaltur". Inside the frame is a waxy material that cannot be marked, despite its soft feel. Legend states that the tablet was placed in the temple by Yaltur himself, at the founding of the Empire. He promised Jamal Hudor, the first Emperor, that should Yaltur need to communicate with his people, his words would appear on the waxy interior. To date, this has been recorded to have happened only twice; the first was when Jamal Hudor was formally crowned as Emperor, when the words "I bless this Emperor and all who follow after him" appeared. The second and last time was as Til-Yaltur was approaching the city of Belyos in his reunification crusade. Then the words "He is my chosen, accept him" appeared. Rumours are that other messages have appeared over the years, but are directed to specific people, and their content has not been made known.
