Tabaxi

Civilization and Culture

History

The Tabaxi, or Felis'quessir, emerged in the Feywild during a time when the realm's magic sought to create beings that embodied agility, curiosity, and the enigmatic nature of the wild. Their creation is attributed to a powerful fey entity or deity who desired agile and cunning guardians for the Feywild’s dense jungles and hidden realms.   The first Tabaxi appeared in the lush, verdant jungles and shadowy forests of the Feywild, where magical energies imbued the essence of great cats with sentience and humanoid form. These early Tabaxi inherited the agility, curiosity, and social structure of wildcats, combined with the intelligence and adaptability needed to thrive in the ever-changing Feywild.   Early Tabaxi society was organized into clans, each led by the most experienced and clever members. These clans roamed the jungles and forests, acting as scouts, protectors, and explorers of their territories. Their presence helped maintain a balance in these regions, ensuring that other fey beings and creatures could coexist harmoniously.   As they evolved, Tabaxi developed a deep connection to the arcane and primal magics of the Feywild. Many became skilled rogues, bards, or rangers, using their agility and curiosity to uncover secrets, protect their clans, or perform feats of stealth and trickery. Their voices, often melodic and enchanting, could charm or deceive, making them both valued allies and formidable opponents.   Tabaxi culture in the Feywild centered around exploration, storytelling, and cunning. They became known for their extensive lore, often conveyed through intricate tales and songs that recounted their adventures and discoveries. Their societies developed complex rituals and ceremonies to honor their ancestors and the spirits of the wild.   Their natural agility and stealth made Tabaxi excellent scouts and spies, respected and sometimes feared by other Feywild races. However, they were also known for their curiosity and love of novelty, often trading exotic items or knowledge with other fey beings.   When portals to the material plane were discovered, many Tabaxi, driven by their insatiable curiosity, ventured into this new world. Their experiences varied greatly – in some places, they were seen as exotic and mysterious wanderers, while in others, they faced suspicion or awe due to their feline appearance and fey origins.   In the material world, Tabaxi often established themselves as wanderers, explorers, or lorekeepers. Their presence brought a touch of the Feywild's mystery and enchantment to the material plane, and many became renowned adventurers or storytellers. There are also tribes of Tabaxi in deeper forests and jungles.
