The Rebellion of King Tyre
First Major Battle of the Rex Kingdom
The only group to stand up to the expansion of King Maffeo Rex's rule were the Southern tribes living in the plains of the continent. Led by charismatic Tyre IronShield the tribes united behind him to attempt to halt the march of the Rexiot soldiers. After two years of successfully holding the Kingdom at bay the arrival of the legendary Kohl the Kind ended the war and allowed the Rex Kingdom to expand to the size that it currently exists as today.
The Conflict
Prelude
After aggressive expansion of the Rex Kingdom's land holdings King Maffeo Rex encountered a collection of human tribes living in the southern part of the unclaimed territory. After unsuccessful negotations the southern tribes declare they will never bow to the King and the rebellion begins.
Deployment
The significantly larger forces of the Rex Kingdom have to arrive from their base of Earth. This gives Tyre IronShield and his forces time to prepare for the battle ahead. Masterful plains hunters the southern tribes built expansive areas full of traps and ambush sites to try and whittle their enemy's will away before they lost too many soldiers to be able to fight back.
Battlefield
The southern plains of the Rex Kingdom are brushland with scattered pockets of water and life. For the most part, the southern tribes had settled in areas near to fresh water and a constant source of food. Not much grows naturally in the climate so they were nomadic hunters. Using their acquired skills they sought to blend in with the shrubbery and strike without warning. The wide-open spaces afforded many areas to defend for the Rexiot soldiers and plenty of angles to attack from for the Southern tribes.
The Engagement
Early on King Maffeo Rex aimed to grind down the Southern tribes through superior numbers. After a few disastrous ambushes and well-sprung traps, he stepped back from leading the army and became a figurehead for the soldiers. His generals, namely the one who came to be known as Kohl the Kind found exploitable strategies and abused them until the Southern tribes were whipped into surrender. The superior armor and weapons of the Rexiot soldiers allowed them to simply wait out the Southern tribe's assaults and they began to hunt down individual villages to weaken the resolve of the enemy. Once enough innocents had lost their lives Tyre IronShield committed suicide with his own blade and the war was declared over.
Outcome
King Maffeo Rex is hailed as military genius and the territory of the Kingdom is expanded to its current size. A military caste develops within the Rex Kingdom.
Aftermath
The Southern Tribes are reformed into the Sparsien people of the Kingdom. Their animosity and distrust of the rest of the Kingdom continue to this day. The southern plains are considered the least developed areas in the whole of the Rex Kingdom.
Historical Significance
Being the only major war to be fought so far by the Rex Kingdom it is endlessly studied by military officers and historians. A cottage industry of historians looking at old battlefields has propped up villages throughout the southern plains of the Kingdom. The tactics and strategy developed by King Maffeo Rex are still considered the best use of the resources at Humanities disposal.Legacy
King Maffeo Rex is regarded as one of the most skilled tacticians to ever rule the Kingdom. The legend of Kohl the Kind takes on life. The Queen Mother Azure Rex is adopted into a home in the city of Earth.
Technological Advancement
This being early in the history of the Kingdom there was not much industry or money in warfare throughout the whole kingdom. Afterwards, King Maffeo Rex realized that the Kingdom was woefully underprepared should an actual enemy appear and pumped money into armories, military academies, and training soldiers. This, in turn, has developed the most advanced technologies that humanity has discovered while living in Pacem.
