Transmission & Vectors

Lycanthropy is passed through two main transmission's, being bitten by a Lycan or having a Lycan parent.

Causes

The cause of Lycanthropy is unknown, only that its history can be traced back to pre-recorded history. Cases of Lycanthropy has grown in recent times following the Draconic Resurgence, this has lead to many experts in the field believing Lycanthropy is caused from an imbalance in Oxdara's Life Force.
The true reason for Lycanthropy, is in fact because of an imbalance in Oxdara's Life Force. When the Life Force imbalances bursts of Wild Magic are formed, this happened quite a lot post Draconic Resurgence when the Life Force was flooded with Draconic magic - which did lead to an increase of Lycanthropy, as well as Vampirism and monsters.

Symptoms

The symptoms of Lycanthropy are:

• Loosing control of your mental facilties during a full moon
• Shifting into an animalistic creature, fueled by carnage
• Heightened senses
• Increased strength
• Increased dexterity

Not all of these symptoms are negative, and even the more negative ones, like loosing yourself during a full moon, can be tempered and controlled offering the afflicted a better control of their 'curse'. As such not everyone afflicited with Lycanthropy see it as a curse, some seeing it as a blessing, dedicating themselves to help others control it.

Treatment

Lycanthropy can be cured, either through divine or powerful arcane magic, these practices can be quite expensive however, so most common people afflicted will try to learn to control the affliction or find other solutions.

Affected Groups

Who is exactly affected is unknown, some people have a natural resilence and can overcome the curse themselves - prevailing theory is that their will and power over their own mind is so strong they can purge the curse from their body.
It is known however that some groups are completely unaffected by the curse, on a genetic level. Any beastial creature (Tabaxi, Leonin, Loxodon, Ursinfolk, etc.), any creature with divine blood (Aasimar, Angels), and any creature that can naturally shift into other forms (Changelings, Shifters). The only example of a creature with divine blood that can be afflicted are Tieflings - it is unknown by most people that Tieflings, beings with demon and devil heritage, have divine blood, as Demons and Devils are celestial beings, like Gods and Angels. 
Why Tieflings are affected and Aasimar aren't? Aasimar have a closer connection with their divine heritage than Tieflings, calling on their divine powers to purge the curse from their body with natural radience.
