Special abilities

Part of her deal with Venmoria granted Kill’ani many special abilities for her too use in the development of her research, as well as any task Venmoria has for her. Her abilities vastly different to Venmorias last champion, August was a warrior and a Lord, Kill’ani is a research, a historian; Venmoria tailoring her powers to Kill’ani’s needs.

• Peering into History - Kill’ani is able to cast the identify spell at will, gaining deeper insight into an object than normal, if it has a connection to the Tal.
• Lightning Affinity - Venmoria, like her fellow Lord, holds an affinity to an element, Ven’s affinity is over Lightning. As her champion Kill’ani has resistance to Lightning, and is able to create bolts of yellowed lightning (a modified version of the ‘fire bolt’ cantrip that deals lightning damage instead of fire)

Personal history

Fascination with the Tal

The Tal are the long extinct species of people who live on what would become Rularia alongside the Dragons. They arrived on Oxdara hundreds of thousands of years after Bahamut, Tiamat, and Kaltorius had created the plane for Dragonkind. The Tal made their way to Oxdara escaping their own plane of existence, but brought with them the Old gods. This history is better understood and researched by historians, Kill’ani focuses more on their lives and civilisation after the War of the Old Gods.
Research into the Tal is an extremely niche specialty, with only a handful of historians and scholars ever delving into the exploration of these people. Most notably Professor Henry Jones, for the longest time being the world foremost expert on the Tal, however he focused on their technology.
As a young girl Kill’ani’s parents took her on a trip to Horan’s Rise, where in they took a tour around the Tal Reliquary, and thus begun her fascination with these people.

A Chance to Talk with History

The 5 Lords, a group of Tal ‘gods’ who have been very influential on Rularia, especially during Rularia’s 4th era, especially the Lord Putara, or as she is known in Rularia, former Governor of Erandule Venmoria. Following the research of Professor Henry Jones, Kill’ani found her way to Erandule to ask Venmoria more about the Tal.
The pair made a deal, Venmoria would tell Kill’ani about the Tal, their culture, their civilisations, their relationship with the world post War of the Old Gods. In exchange Kill’ani would serve as Venmoria’s champion on Oxdara, a practice the Lords had adopted many years prior. Gondri’s champion being the Bard Trill, Eltern’s being the daughter of Queen Mother Mifeath, Brazess, Uranus and Inday elected not to have a champion after Uranus’s champion during the Darkwing Empire rebellion, Shade, died of old age. Venmoria had not had a champion since August Proudmire, the man who would become King of Dragontide, post war.

Duty to Home/Duty to Service

Kill’ani’s service to Venmoria allows her to explore many ancient ruins of Tal civilisation across Rularia, and as such, she has developed a great knowledge of Rularia. This knowledge has made her a figure of great interest to the Dritha Empire, ever looking for information about the western continent, especially about their cousins the Polantians.  
This duality of duty causes a lot of sleepless nights for the young Dragonborn, unsure as to her place between the two continents. But knowing her first duty is to the research, to recording the history she uncovers, and developing the niche topic of the Tal.
