Divine Avatar
A Divine Avatar comes in many forms, and is a title held by many people on the material plane. Becoming a Divine Avatar is not something a person can chose, they are chosen by a God, or Demi-God, to be that God's representative and chosen on the material plane. It is a different title than priest or cleric, and some Divine Avatars have no connection to any church, instead finding themselves granted powers by the divine through their birth right or even just because they caught the eye of the Gods.
Powers and Granted Abilities
The powers bestowed upon a Divine Avatar vary from God to God. Most will grant their chosen some form of artefact to bolster and channel their powers through. A few examples of the powers granted would be.Ilmater - God of Endurance
Ilmater's present Avatar is Queen Mother Mia’rora Erleth, granting the Firbolg the powers as his chosen during her time adventuring and stopping the Dark Wing Empire, Ivory Order and Dante. Ilmater granted Mia'rora The Hammer of Ilmater, created from a Staff of Healing, given a large warhammer to defend herself with, and bolster her healing abilities to keep those around her alive and safe. Mia would also be granted the ability of restraining creatures with powerful red ribbons, symbols of Ilmater, and a pair of divine wings. Awakening her divine blood line, removing her ability to age.Lord Putara
Though not true Gods, The Five Lords would take their own chosen warriors, and many Tal researchers would attributing the Divine Avatar role to the Five Lords originally, choosing Tal Warriors to be bolstered in power in the war against the Old Gods. Lord Putara's current champion is Kill'ani ‘The Scholar’ Blackcrystal, a Dragonborn scholar from Venka, with a deep longing to learn and find out as much as they can about the Tal. The pair struck a deal, Putara would aid Kill'ani's research, telling her details about their culture, magic and lives, and Kill'ani would serve as her champion, aiding her in whatever battles Putara needed. As her champion Kill'ani gained mastery over lightning, gaining natural defences against the element, and the ability to create charge bolts of yellowed lightning. Kill'ani's powers are still growing in her service to Putara, so it's not yet clear as to what abilities she will have. Putara's previous champion was King August Proudmire, who was able to move with lighting fast reflexes, summon portals and have an extended life span.
