Zera
Zera is the god of the moon, night, and darkness. She is also known as the Twilight Widow.
she/her (z-heer-UH)
Zera's name stems from Jewish culture (Hebrew origins)
Appearance/Symbolism
She often appears as a tiefling woman with grey skin that transitions to black around her horns. The transition is constantly changing, in line with the phases of the moon. She has long curly white hair and wears a black dress with a large crescent moon on the back. Her symbol is a crescent moon with a tear falling from the upper point connecting to the lower. She often has the moon as her main form of symbolism. However, tears, veils, and silver jewelry are also seen to represent her. Pictographical Details
The pictographical details of her symbol in Celestial script represent a full and both waning and waxing gibbous moons and the cover of shadow. Status and Relationships
Zera is one of the Eighteen. Her sister is Thahti and her late husband was Alazo. She is also the daughter of Amun. She unlike her sister does not care for her father much. She feels that while she might've gotten onto the council through her father, she has done more than enough to rightfully earn her seat. However, she is often overlooked and talked over by the Eighteen, often outshone by Amun or Thahti. She and her sister had a very rough relationship for a long time but now have been able to heal after the Search of Power. Personality
Zera is very reserved and subtly powerful. Her presence in a room is not unnoticed but is not imposing either. She is very witty and makes her points among the council succinct and resoundingly. She can be often overlooked by other louder gods but when she speaks up she is listened to and her point of view is valued. She is not an overly emotional god and can be seen as very cold by many. She is content with this perception because she holds her vulnerabilities close and does not like others to notice them. This is especially true after the discovery of her late husband's affair. History
Zera has had a rough godhood. She has been very often linked with danger and darkness that comes at night. Many people also connect that darkness with evil creatures and the haunting undead. But she was always heard by Alazo. His fire was comforting on the cold nights when she felt so alone. He was kind and unlike others listened and appreciated her quiet glow. She loved his fire so dearly and they held each other very close and married. They lived in a kind of bliss until trouble in the pantheon began to stir up. The God Devourer was put on all of the gods' radars. It was in the final battle that Alazo was extinguished along with any mortal memory of him. After his death, Zera dawned a veil of darkness and in her mourning looked towards her sister for comfort. But she was not met by a kind sister but one grieving a lover. Her flame taken by her sister who overshadowed her in every other way. Zera's sorrow turned to rage and she turned her tears to resentment. She renamed herself and exposed her sister as a misteress, their relationship as worse as it would get. Tahti's reputation was shattered for years, until the Gods of Flasehoods murdered one of their own and they ran to each other in a panic. Through trust and healing the sisters' relationship was slowly repaired and now they work closely together to balance the moon and stars. Notable Worshipers
