The Great Wall of Iya

"Sovereign Iya sacrificed everything he had to keep the Wall erect and to keep his people safe, ensuring this bastion of knowledge and history, our grand city of Iya, would withstand all that The Planar Convergence had to bare."
— History Professor at The Federation Academy of Excellence

It has endured wear and tear but still serves as a border wall for Iya, It now doubles as a stopper, keeping the incursions that took over most of the city from spilling out and a cage...keeping the Iyans in.

Purpose / Function

The Great Wall of Iya was constructed as a border wall for the grand city. It delineated the nation as a whole. The front gate is in one of the lost sectors now but in the past it was open most of the time allow visitors back and forth.

No one knows for sure but there are some Iyans that believe that Sovereign Iya created the Wall because he knew what was coming and wanted to prepare defenses.

Alterations

The Wall has not had major alterations done to it, but it has had additions. Ways to transport water from outside the wall was constructed during the Age of Miracles. In the present day, the Wallers have built their hovels on the side of the Wall, in a rafter-like fashion.

Architecture

The Wall is made up of many different materials, ground, dirt, stone and wood. It is also imbued with the divine essence of Sovereign Iya which reinforces the sturdiness and longevity of it.

History

The Great Wall of Iya was constructed by the Sovereign Iya himself. For 100 days and 100 nights he walked the border of his nation and harnessed his Divine Spark as a Manifester Conduit to erect a wall 5 stories tall (70ft.). The Wall was a promise fulfilled, Sovereign Iya promised that he would protect his nation and his people with by any means necessary.

The Wall never fell to attack or siege and when The Planar Convergence began, it withstood planar incursion from within and outside. The Wall can be seen as a saving grace to the rest of Ostyria as it contained all incursions within its wall but it also can be seen as the bane of Iya as its denizens were trapped inside with no safe escape.
