The wedding of Charis Moreland and Rheanne Avander-Slade

There was a huge, lavish wedding today on Mars as Charis Moreland married Rheanne Avander-Slade. Almost all of Mars's best and brightest were in attendance, along with celebrities, media and a small army of security guards.

Held at the exclusive Diamond Strike Pinnacle tower, one of the tallest towers in Cydonia City, the wedding was thought to cost in excess of 295 million adjusted dollars and saw more than 1,300 guests attend.

Among the guests were Baron Gaius Corvo , Rep Salif Madawi, Major Taufar van Haefen, Alvis Stormer, Lord Frederick Sondeheim , Ashraf Panikkar, Finn Knottman and the Governor of Mars, Princess Annastacia Valane.

The scion of House Avander-Slade, Desmond Avander-Slade, was in attendance but was too frail to walk Rheanne down the aisle so she was escorted to her bride by her brother, Timon Avander-Slade.

The family are expected to move to St Lawrence for business reasons. Cydonia PD set up a security perimeter around the building but there were no reports of any disturbances.

The only significant note of contreversey was a loud and apparently drunken argument between Alvis Stormer and a member of the Knottman delegation, Natalie Paris, who accused Mr Stormer of "spreading gruesome rumours". Mr Stormer refused to comment to the press as he left.

There was also apparently a heated debate between Lord Frederick Sondeheim and Finn Knottman, prompted by "talk about secularism."

Members of the MWP called the marriage "a gross waste of money" and decried the involvement of the Cydonia PD in "what was essentially private security" for the richest two families in the entire Republic.
