Origins
The Republican Centrist Party was formed out of the ashes of the old Centrist Party . The "rights" to the name Centrist Party were still held by Vishnu Elpis who had been formed after a merger of Centrist and conservative voters, so the new party had to take on a new identity and name. The RCP was formed first on Mars and then expanded out to become a Federal Party.Platform
As one might expect from the name, the RCP is a moderate political party with a somewhat "big tent" approach to Republican politics. Its platform has varied across the years but broadly is:- Pro business but also pro regulations
- Supports robust defence spending
- Supports transparency of government
- Supports the rule of law
- Supports education
- Supports public / private partnership solutions
Leadership
The RCP is a Federally run party, with its HQ based on Mars in Wintervossen street in Cydonia City. It also has offices on many other major planets, with the most important external offices found on New Berlin. The RCP has a Federal Committee that makes strategic decisions for the party. The Committee is made up of 55 members, who are elected by open ballot by the paid membership. Generally speaking, the Committee tends to remain stable as there are rarely challenges to sitting committee members. House Moreland is considered the party's single largest benefactor and they have had a major influence on the party.Electoral Performance
