Esqualdan Plains
The Esqualdan Plains are a large area of flatland around the base of the Monavir Mountains, and part of the Hearthlands. Largely made of up grasslands, the western plains are dominated by Centaurs and Humans, both of which have a nomadic culture across the plains, and have allied themsleves to Alvmire, although the plains lead all the way up to Hosgar Gulf in the north, which falls under the rule of Ishorna. To the east of the mountains, in the Tressaunt portion of the plains, much of the land has been converted into farmlands, and boasts high human and halfling populations and fairly pastoral living. Many of the nomads see this as offensive, destroying the natural beauty of the flains to make farms, and it is a constant source of strife between Alvmire and Tressaunt. To the south is Mosgar Pass, seperateing the plains from the Othryn Barrens. Somewhat different that the preferences of the people of Alvmire or Ishorna in general, the nomadic plainsfolk primarily keep pigs, and occasionally boars. They often use them to sniff out mushrooms, which they use to eat, make bread with a mix of wheat or barley flower and crushed, dried mushroom, and for the brewing of Shavmel, a mushroom-based beer. They also use large, dire-boars as mounts and beasts of burden, as the physical similarities to centaurs makes the domestication and use of horses a cultural taboo.
