Serpent's Branch
Serpent's Branch is the largest settlement in Palor.
Built as a simple mining town by a company looking to harvest Blacksalt, the town was eventually overrun and taken over my bandits and marauders. Over time the town grew into what could be considered a city. A large gathering of those who want a neutral place to trade goods and to make a semblance of a living.
Serpent's Branch is a wild town, no doubt about it, but a semblance of law is kept by the leader of the first gang to take the town, Aloysius Hesselweight of the Onyx Vipers Gang. Under this rule the city has flourished, farms and ranches established under its protection as well as concentrated efforts to build wells and establish proper buildings. This all serves Hesselweight and his gang at the end of the day, living like monarchs for providing simple protection, earning a small tithe throughout, but its undeniable that Serpent's Branch is likely the safest settlement for travellers within the disputed lands.
While many may turn their nose up at the chaos and mayhem that takes place within the settlement, its citizens are well fed and well protected, nobody daring to assault the city not only for fear of Hesselweight and his gang, but also without it, selling loot and engaging in pleasures would be much more difficult.
