Onyx Vipers
The Onyx Vipers are a criminal gang working out of Serpent's Branch in Palor.
The Vipers originally formed sometime around 770PS, as a roaming and raiding band of marauders, riding around the plains of Palor looking for ranchers and small business owners to harass and threaten out of 'Protection' money. The gang didn't have strong aspirations beyond this until they approached the town that would become Serpent's Branch.
The former leader of the gang, a brute of a man, wanted to destroy the town, a show of strength to intimidate the surrounding areas, but another member of the gang, Aloysius Hesselweight , saw the potential in the land and it's Blacksalt mines. Organising a coup with other members of the gang, they removed their brute of a leader and took over the town themselves, growing the settlement out and inviting in other gangs to pay a tithe to them.
Due to ruling the largest settlement in the area, the Onyx Vipers have become the strongest gang in all of Palor. Lesser gangs must go to them if they want a taste of civilisation, or to restock their equipment at the now bustling trade hub they rule.
