The Ebon Curtain Hall

A large performance venue. Frequent shows from Bards, Poets, Comedians, and Dancers from all over the world. Its namesake comes from the Giant 30 ft black as night curtain which covers the stage only to be opened to reveal the night's performer.

Purpose / Function

Built as a place for the public to enjoy art and performances without sitting in a stuffy Tavern or inn of ill repute. Performers from all over the world work their way up to playing the Ebon Curtain. Many performers partake in "Talent Scouting" nights where they are all allowed to perform one song and the audience and Master of Ceremonies will judge them on their performance and the crowd's reaction. If they are well liked, they may earn a contract for regular performances at the hall. This is also a great opportunity for performers to earn themselves a patron which opens the doors to far more opportunities. And of course, more gold.

Alterations

An entire restoration was put in place a few decades ago in an effort to rebuild it after a fire nearly destoryed it. This includes new sculptures along the facade and grand gallery. A new Ebon Curtain was installed to replace one lost in the great fire. It was partially funded by Eammon Falshire, The Bard of Auldsod.

Architecture

A little gothic restoration (Spires and gargoyles) Mixed with the grand old theatres of the victorian age. Chandeliers, red carpets, marble stairways. Truly a picture of beauty and opulence befitting the art and music that breathes life into the buildings hundred year old halls night in and night out.

History

Originally built over 1,000 years ago and used as an outdoor amphitheater in ancient times, as humans began to settle the area, they built around the original subterranean stage to form the first building to house the theater. It would go on to change owners and names throughout the years until one of its operators had a gigantic black curtain installed for the stage. This ended up becoming its namesake as it evolved into the Ebon Curtain Hall.
